December Daily™ 2013 | Day Sixteen
Tags:Welcome to December Daily™ 2013 | Day Sixteen.
It's totally possible to keep this project simple. Today's page was super quick - print two photos, write out the journaling, add a few embellishments, and voila. It doesn't have to take a lot of time during this crazy time of year and man I love being able to look back on these as the years pass.
And it's always nice to have the reminder that this isn't a competition. It's not about having the coolest design or the most products on your spread or the best decorated house or the biggest gifts under the tree. It's about celebrating and savoring the season in your own life.
Big thanks to those of you who have been sharing your work in the links below, over at Studio Calico in the gallery and on the message board, on Flickr, on Instagram, on Facebook, etc. It's so fun seeing all the #decdaily and #decemberdaily creativity and community.
Also a big thanks to so many of you who have joined the One Little Word year-long workshop. The private Facebook group for the class has already been very active with people sharing their words and making friends. Sign up before December 31 and receive $5 off.
Here's a look at my Day Sixteen:
Today I'm focusing on the kids advent calendars. This year they both chose Lego sets (the City one for Simon and the Friends one for Anna). I moved a little table down from Anna's room to the living room so they could have a dedicated spot for these downstairs that wasn't the dining room table. I love how they both get up in the morning and come down and sit at this little table first thing to see what lego surprise awaits them.
For this spread the Day 16 journal card was waiting for me as it was one I put together in advance. I used the really thin gold washi tape to create the lines for my words.
The "that's a good memory" card had a snowflake on the bottom that I covered with a gold star.
I added a couple little things on top of the two 4x6 photos. On the top photo I added a "merry" die cut (cut with the Silhouette using the free printables included with the kit).
And on the bottom photo I created a little tree with sequins and brads and a tiny little silver star. I really enjoy just adding simple little embellishments right on top of my photos - sometimes those take the form of digital word art and other times they are physical embellishments as you see here.
Hope you have a great Tuesday!

Love the sequin tree. Some of my days have been very simple and unadorned, usually using one of your December Daily layered templates in 6x8 or 4x6,all volumes. They just rock at being able to add multiple photos without multiple pockets/pages

I am way behind - but it's OK. I've been keeping notes on my calendar and taking photos each day. I will be on vacation for 13 days starting this Friday - so excited! I should have plenty of time to get caught up and finish :)

love looking at this project first thing every morning!! I haven't started yet, but I plan to incorporate this into my PL...would love to do a separate DD, but I have to be realistic and not add any more stress to my life...I do find that if I even spend as little as 20-30 minutes a day doing some scrappin' that I have a much better outlook on the day!

I totally agree it can be really simple. I am 3 days behind right now but plan to knock over these days over tonight and have very limited time , say an hour or so to spend on it. So it will be done and I think the kit and your digital templates take the stress out out of it. All co-ordinated already just hang it together with some photos and words. My first year of December Daily and I am loving it to bits.
