Today I’m thankful for Lily. I’m thankful that she’s still with us. She’s my companion and pal and somehow tends to be healthier than ever (besides not really being able to chase the ball as much as she’d like). The other day I caught this shot of her while I was sitting at my desk. The fresh air was coming in the open window and she was checking things out for a few minutes before she laid down for one of her many daily naps. She’s the best.

UPDATE : I returned safe and sound last night from my adventures in Tuscany and Rome so really what I’m most thankful for right now is being home safe and sound with my family. Photos and words to come in the next couple of days.
Thankful Thoughts is a semi-regular series. If you’ve missed any of the previous overlays please check out the archive. Thankful Thought | 001 included a rounded corner mask and a video tutorial to show you how to work with both the mask and the photo overlay.

WELCOME HOME ALI, MISSED YOU AND GLAD YOUR HOME SAFE AND SOUND!!
Love this photo and how beautiful she looks just sitting there staring out the window. It’s one of my favorite things about my Lucky, don’t you wish we knew what they were thinking???
So happy to have you back!!! You have been missed SO much!!! Thanks a lot for the new TT, love it
Glad to hear you arrived home safely and I am sure you got your fill of hugging Simon and Ana! I’ve missed your frequent posts – but I can wait — take your time settling in and catching up — we will be here when you are ready, no pressure here!
Welcome back!

OHHHH so glad to see this post. You are my everyday…I really REALLY missed your daily posts. I knew you were gone and busy but so excited to see this…EXSPECIALLY on a Monday. Lily is beautiful..we have a choc. lab and they are just precious. They are the “best” dogs. She is my daughters dog, but loved by all. They truly love their owners:) So glad your back safe and sound. My dream is to go someday!!!
Welcome home! And thank you very much, X7.
Hi Ali! Glad you’re back safe & sound. Looking forward to hearing about your travels. I have a Lily too! Our Lily is about 7 years old now and her fur is turning white in a few places. She is slowing down some and has shorter play periods than before. She’s always so happy to see us when we come home and she loves to cuddle with us.
Just a little something fun to tell you and thought you’d get a kick out of it.
My daughter had homecoming this past weekend and one of the photo options was to go in their little photo booth (like the ones you’ve been doing with kids) and have funny pictures taken. They provided a basket of glasses, boa’s, hats and such to make it more fun. My daughter loved this one and didn’t even bother to get one done by the professional photographer that they had there.
I was surprised and happy by this when she got home and showed me. Can you imagine Simon/Anna many years from now enjoying this for their homecoming.
Welcome home Ali! Can’t wait to hear about your trip and see your SOTR (if you are sharing it). I love the photo of Lily too. If you hadn’t explained it, I would have thought she was watching out the window, waiting for you to come home.
I am new to digital I was watching your tutorial about overlays from your thankful thought 1. I was wondering how you keep all your layers in the middle. Mine seem to just go down to the bottom, I can’t seem to figure out how to make them stay. Any help. Thanks.
Welcome home Ali! I missed you lots!!
Welcome home! Quick question to go with my admiration for your wonderful observations and sentiments…LOVED the photo of Lily but REALLy loved the stacked box/sorter/whatever she was sitting next to! Can we buy these or was this one of your wonderful thrift store finds???
Welcome, home, Ali. Even though the trip was fabulous, I know how good it feels to be back home again. Hope you can get some rest.
Wonderful picture.
Eveline.
So happy to see you home safely Ali. That Lily of yours sure is a blessing for you and your family. I’m happy to see she is doing so well after her sickness this summer. Wishing you a wonderful week at home.
WELCOME HOME, ALI!!!!!!! I’m so happy you’re home! I missed seeing your photos and “hearing” your words while you were away. I’m sure it will take a few days to get back into the swing of things, but I can’t wait to see what you have to share with us.
My two favorite things about coming home from a long trip: all the hugs, kisses and love my kids give me AND sleeping in my own bed! Again, welcome home.
Hugs, Jen
I’m thankful you are home too…you were missed!

Happy you are back home, I missed you
Ali! So happy to have you home safe and sound. I missed you I know the trip was great as you! Are not dogs the most wonderful companions. I just love the phot of Lily glad she is doing ok. We still have Molly diabetic, poor sighted, and slow moving but she is Moms’s last schnauzer she raised so we are taking care of Mollie because we know that is what mom (anna) would have done if she was still here….love to you and your in my prayers.
blessings and hugs,

What a sweet baby. I am so glad to see Lily! I have thought about her often after her spell this past summer. I just love the companionship of a dog, there is absolutely nothing like it. Thanks for sharing Lily with us!

Welcome back, Ali!
My Buddy is 9 and slowing down these days, too, but still so much a part of our family! So glad Lily is doing so well … dogs have such beautiful souls, don’t they? Blessings to you and your family ~ and precious Lily!
We just got a new black labradoodle puppy and her name is Lily also. My eleven year old daughter named her after a character in a favorite book she read. I never had a dog before and wasn’t prepared for all of the work of puppydom! I anxiously await when our Lily will sit and look out the window!
glad you’re home safe and sound, ali!
love this shot of lily, so happy to know she’s healthy!
We missed you. i have been checking daily. Glad Lily is doing great. Look forward to pics of your visit.
Welcome home Ali. I’ve missed your regular updates and moments of inspiration. It’s amazing how much our pets become members of the family and amazing companions. Love the picture.
Welcome home (real home and blog home:). May you have a great time relishing in all your wonderful “everyday” things that makes home home.
I understand completely the feeling you had when you saw her like that. When my previous sweethaert was growing old, I could enjoy it so much seeing her enjoying the simple things. Even when she became really old, and couldn’t even make her daily tour in the neighbourhood, she could be so happy with a little ray of sun, a nice day,…
Do profite these moments, they’re passing so quick….
Glad to hear you are home safe and sound. It takes a few days to get back into a routine when you have been away on such an amazing trip. I am looking forward to seeing some of your photos.

Can anyone tell me how they are scrapping their TT each time.
I have printed them out on a 4×6 but not sure how to scrap them.
I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the nice quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one today..
