Project Life | Week Forty-Five

Welcome to Project Life | Week Forty-Five.

I was excited to see that Becky is going to be offering simple black and white signature albums (coming in December).

Definitely considering the black. It'll be a nice complement to the black albums I've been using from We R Memory Keepers.

If you're wondering what else I'm planning for next year you can see a post about that here.

Here's a look at Week Forty-Five:

Really trying to get back in the habit of jotting things down as they happen - especially little conversations.

One insert this week in the form of a Walgreens prescriptions bag. Inside the bag is Anna's prescription for her ear infection.

Ever since I saw MaryAnn use these 4x6 flip up pockets I've been wanting to try them. Finally made that happen today.

They are cool. It's a great way to just add a couple more photos without doing a full or 1/2 page divided page protector insert.

I'm also really making an attempt at getting back to capturing simple stuff - like breakfast. It's such a great representation of what is now.

Those "this one" and "that one" rub ons are from Jenni Bowlin (I don't think they are available anymore).

    Hello,

You inspire me to try project life in 2012! I am excited about the new page protector sizes and options Becky is offering! Especially all the options with the wallet size pockets on the page protectors. (I love how you use the wallet size for pictures, memorabelia, and journeling cards.)

Does anyone have suggestions for how to print 2 different wallet sized pictures on a 4×6 if I don’t have photoshop or my own printer? I would be ordering prints at shutterfly, walgreens, etc.

    Thanks,

    Katie

PS. I was wondering, will you do both your project life and December Daily during the month of December?

    Ali,

I always get the best ideas for photos and layout ideas for Project Life from you. I appreciate that you have been documenting this all along, well before others started doing it. I kind of lost steam mid-way through the year, but quickly got back into it after seeing all of your great ideas. Thank you for inspiring me to continue with my passion of documenting life.

I am so glad this week that you used the flip up 4 x6 pockets. I believe I have some of those and have been trying to figure out what to do with them. LOts of ideas now.

I also am anxiously awaiting the clementine addition for next year. I think I will probably stick with the light green we r memory keepers album (that is what our family photos are in, ) but I also love the PL white and black ones...hard to decide. Do you lay out your album for the entire year before hand, or wait until each week to do so? I am also going to be using a variety of page protectors and that can sometimes be tricky to line up. Any suggestions for laying your book out ahead of time?

I always loves seeing how your Project Life comes together each week - pure goodness.

You've probably already answered this somewhere along the way but I have to ask... are the headings written on the journal cards just done with sharpies? Love the look.

    thanks so much!
    A.

Now that I have been successful with your Travel Journal, I see now how to be a "hunter and gatherer" and I am going to need to apply that to Project Life to make it work!

I tried to start Project life and wasn't dedicated to the gathering part! NOW I get it....

That travel journal is a treasure I will have for a lifetime...I LOVE IT! Thanks for a great class!!!

I've doing PL for my 4 year old daughter. I love seeing yours every week. You are a great reminder to me that I need to keep more STUFF too and I don't always have to use so many pictures. I really need to remember this! Thanks for always sharing yours!

Yes, I'm commenting again but I just have to...

    I just had a 'light-bulb moment' while tidying/sorting/purging
around the house... instead of agonizing over the decision to save or give-away my kids' all-time favourite clothes (or the things I love to see them in the most!) I'm going to make sure that I have great photos of them in that item and include the photo/s in my Project Life. I love donating our clothes but some items really tug at my heart strings - this will make the process so much easier :)

Yes. Yes. Yes. I was just thinking about taking a photo of all the shirts hanging in Simon's closet. I like the snapshot of now of what he's wearing.

Are you still doing project life on you countertop? If so are you still using the little cannon printer. Is you process the same as you planned it to be, or have you taken it back up to your studio?

Hi Staci - I ended up not using the little printer. It didn't print true 4x6 photos and that was annoying to me with this album in particular. It does still spend most of the time on the kitchen counter and then moves up to my office on Mondays when I've been bringing it together for the week. I still print photos out during the week on my main printer in my office and just take them downstairs or keep them in a pile on my desk until Monday when I bring the album up to finish, take pictures for my post, etc.

I really love this idea of capturing everyday life, I'm wondering is this your main scrapbook? Or do you have a separate album with the more traditional layouts? I'm thinking of trying this next year and combining it together.

Hi Emily - I do both. This year I did more Project Life and less regular layouts. I have one 12x12 album that's currently holding layouts from this year - I think there's about 15 in there currently. I don't scrapbook chronologically (in order) so it's likely more will be added. Next year I'm hoping to even it out a bit and get some more layouts done. That said, I think Project Life can totally be on it's own or work as a compliment to an overall body of scrapbooking/memory keeping albums, projects, etc.

At the beginning of this year I thought I would combine the two but ended up opting for separate albums. My Project Life for this year is spread over three albums because of the number of inserts and additional things I included.

    Hi Ali,
When you're done with this year, do you think you could do a post looking back and maybe sharing some of the things you loved best about this? Like stuff(and stories) you are so glad you included, processes that helped, and so on. Kind of a best of the best post.
I'd be super interested in that, as I'm really trying to get set up with a Project Life of my own. :)

Ali--in looking at your foundation pages it looks like you have the overlay with the back of the previous page as part of that number so two pages per date. I bought the Studio Calico kit but it only has 25 page protectors. Their site is down right now---can you get more? Also what pages are you using with the pockets? This will be my first year to try December Daily and am not sure what to do. Thanks

    Hi Ali!!
LOving your Project Life posts. Look forward to them each week. Wondering if you're going to continue it for 2012 and if you could share how your process might change, or things you've learned doing it this year. Just kind of like to pick your brain and find out all I can on the process as I embark on Project Life for 2012! Super excited. Thanks!!
