Project Life | Week Fifty-One

Welcome to Project Life | Week Fifty-One.

Here’s a look at the spread:

I repeated a couple photos that were part of a collage for Christmas Day in my December Daily (totally fine with that).

This week feels simple – and it was. Less hustle and bustle and more calm and quiet.

One of the things I was thinking about as I reviewed this week is that I’m thankful even for the short quick little notes jotted down on one of the cards. To me that’s a big part of the awesomeness of this project. Some weeks the journaling is longer and some weeks it’s shorter which is all totally fine in the context of a full album of stories from our lives this year.

I can’t tell you how proud I feel about keeping up with this.

I saw two movies last week on my own (something I enjoy very much): Girl With A Dragon Tattoo and My Week With Marilyn. I liked both of them (had read the book but not seen the Swedish version of Dragon Tattoo) and the salty popcorn. Patiently waiting for The Descendants to come to a theater here – not sure why it’s taking so long.

Almost every photo this week ended up with a sticker from October Afternoon Holiday Style and a 7Gypsies Naked Color Mini Label Sticker.

One more week. I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s celebration.

I’m welcoming 2012 with really big open arms.

This was a great week of pics, all the sweet memories right here. Love how you capture so much of your kids lives in this album. It’s been a joy to read this each week all year and YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF YOURSELF. This is my first year keeping up so well and I’m proud and happy to do it again next year. Looking forward to another year of your project life posts.

Happy New Year to you and your family. May it be filled with goodness, peace, love, UPLIFTING spirits.

    prayers and hugs for you,

I have to say I don’t know how you do ALL you do…you should be super proud keeping up with that. I have not…and I am not very happy with myself…enough that I will not be buying new version ( plus I dont like how she did not keep it all contained in a kit:) Much better that way I think…SO I have the pictures. OMG pictures everywhere, simply did not take the time. BUT I have so enjoyed seeing yours along the way. I can always finish mine someday. Thanks Ali…Happy New Years!

i am wondering if she split the kit up as she saw that scrapbookers were buying different pieces and just not the kit? i have a years full of pics organized by month..sort of…i am going to scrapbook them using the PL stuff i have, and try to keep up this year more as a monthly thing…not weekly i work full time and have grandkids some days there is nothing exciting about my life…unless the grandkids come over!

Laura we all think we don’t have exciting lives!!! I too am a young grandmother and think I don’t have much to say about my life but when you start writing it down it’s not so dull. In years to come your grandkids will love reading all about your life.
Lisa I’m so glad that becky made all the peices of Project Life seperate. Now I don’t have to buy the whole kit and can use what I have left over from last year. I think it’s a great idea!! It also lets the ones who couldn’t afford the whole kit just buy the peices they need. I still haven’t finished 2010!! and didn’t do 2011 but this year I have decided to do it again and TRY to keep up. I have done my title page and xmas (I start with xmas and then move forward).

Ali-I have loved seeing your album every week. Did you print all your Project Life pictures on your personal printer? I just could not find a rhythm for staying caught up and part was due to printing pictures…picking them up…etc. Happy 2012 Ali! Thank you for such inspiring posts!

Hi Jennifer – I do print all my photos here at home. It’s the best way for me in terms of workflow.

    • ….
      Christina said…

I know what you mean Jennifer. I usually print my pics at Harvey Norman which is about 15minutes drive away. I have decided that for this project next year I will print at officework as they are open until midnight every night (I live in Australia) and they are only 5 minutes away. That way I can go down anytime and get my pics which inspires me to finish off the week.
Hope that helps. Maybe try to find somewhere convenient. Good luck!!

Completely resonate with you and your sense of pride keeping up with this album all year. We have it out and the family must look at it everyday. Everyone simply lingers over it. I love that. And like you some times the journaling is long. Other times I am good to get a few bullet points on the week in place. But it is a gift to me and my family as the year closes and I am eager to begin anew.

I even gave my sister a “kit” for Christmas becasue she was saying how overwhelmed she felt about keeping up with “the now.” I hope you will continue to share your spreads next year. Happy New Year and may peace and many blessings come your way! :)

You have a reason to be proud. It’s been great to follow along with you each week. I too hope that you will do this again in 2012. I bought the box and the page protectors. I’m looking forward to trying to keep it up this year. My life is way less exciting than yours as I am single with no children. But I think I can keep it up weekly if I really try. have a wonderful New Year’s weekend and God bless you wonderfully in 2012.

Ali – your enthusiasm for PLife is a big part of what has kept me excited about it. . . sort of contagious enthusiasm, I think. I’m excited to spend the 31st getting all caught up (a few months behind, but I have all the stuff saved, just need to get it in the album) and feeling proud I stuck with it. It’s an amazing project on so many levels. Thanks to you and Becky for keeping it real, making it fun and keeping so many motivated.

The Descendants – definitely go see it. I got to see a pre-screen before it was released at the Walker Art Center in Mpls. I know the producer, Jim Burke, he’s a U of MN alumnus I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the last few years. Super, super cool, down-to-earth guy. He’s only interested in producing films that show the complexities of human stories. We’re all crossing our fingers that it scores an Oscar for best film or screenplay. It’s a rich, layered piece. You’ll enjoy it.

I’m up-to-date with my 3rd year of PL with only 2 slots left in the album — one for today and one for tomorrow! It’s been a rough year in many ways but flipping back through the weeks make it seem less traumatic. There were lots of happy faces and events. And so much color! Glad I kept up. Happy New Beginnings to you Ali. Again thanks for leading us through this process. We so appreciate it.

Question. I’m sure you’ve answered this before but I will be honest and say I am too lazy to go back through all the project life posts. Where did you get that little date stamp you’ve been using. Is it just a regular office supply date stamp?

    Happy New Year.

Ali–I have loved following along with your Project Life album for 2011 and it has inspired me to do my own for 2012! I bought both the Clementine and Cobalt editions (couldn’t decide betweent the two so I decided to mix & match) and created my title page last night so I’m all ready to go! Do you still use the litte Selphy printer to print most of your pics or your large format printer? Still trying to figure out the best option for my personal use. Also, since I’m just starting to get back into scrapping which paper trimmer is the best these days & which corner rounder do you recommend? Adhesive? Is there a place on your website where you list your fave products or most recommended?

Looking forward to following along with you in 2012 too! Best wishes for a Happy New Year to you & your family!

I am a worrier and you’ve helped me this year with my OLW to be more open, less critical and more ‘light’ even though my word previously was Believe… my word for 2012 – Achieve! Much love, happy & safe New Year dear friend of the web! (rowann on BPC)

I really have enjoyed looking at your PL pages! I too want to see The Descendants, love to support George Clooney, he is from Ky just 20 mins away from were I live by ferry. One of my favorite things I did for the Holidays this year was to tour Rosemary Clooney’s home and I got to see The White Christmas room” meet Nick and Nina Clooney(geroges’s parents) Lee Meriweather and George Chakiris(Bernardo from West Side Story) they were there dedicating costumes from White Christmas to Rosemary’s house. Steve Henry and Heather French Henry(Miss America 2000) own Rosemary’s home and are collecting and preserving items from Rosemary’s career. I will love looking back on this day in my DD!

Ali, your Project Life posts are so inspiring and in 2012 I’m going to keep up. As I don’t print at home, it’s a job to go to the photo shop each week so I might try ordering on-line maybe. I’m going to go back to finish 2011 as it’s half finished but I think writing the journalling down each week would help rather than 4 weeks or 8 weeks after the event. Thanks for your inspiring posts and December Daily. I admire you for your positive outlook on 2012 for new beginnings, I’m still trying to get over my marriage breakup which was a few years ago now. I had one little word last year but didn’t really run with it so this year I want to join up and be a part of it. All the best. Regards< Kathy, Brisbane, Australia

You should be SO proud to have kept up with this project! I’m half way thru the year on mine and wondering if I’ll ever get it done as well as finish other projects. I didn’t do DD because I had so many projects in the fire and so missed doing that with you this year. I love reading about all your projects and You keep me going on so many days. Perhaps if I pick a day to make sure next years is done like you do posting yours on Tues. it will keep me going. Thanks and Happy New Year!

Yay!!! Congratulations Ali! You are super inspiring. I have been on the fence about doing a 2012. I didn’t keep up in 2011. I set it up but the photo printing thing and my computer being slow, etc really held me back. I kept up with memorabilia to a point. I guess it is like yours in 2010? Anyways, I am giving it a go again as I got a new computer and printer for Christmas! Already I have been able to do some December Daily pages, and am looking forward to capturing more in 2012. Thanks again for all your inspiration! If you can start again so can I!

    Hi
    Just curious
Did you have a specific plan for this project? Or did you just go with the flow?
I am going to do this project – I think I have everything-but feeling a little disorganized!
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks so much!

    • ….
      Ali said…

Hi Celeste – my plan was really to just fill in the pockets each week. I did mine as a week-at-a-glance rather than photo-a-day – for me, that was a really great approach. It gave me lots of room to just add stuff as I went along vs. trying to have something specific for each day. For me it was also good to have a specific day that I posted it on my blog – it helped keep me accountable to get it done on Mondays to post on Tuesdays.

Following you has been so inspirational so thank you from the bottom of my heart! Can’t wait to keep working with you in 2012!

Ali, you are amazing & have been my inspiration to go back & finish my album. I kept up every week for 5 months while my husband was away working & when he got back he read it from cover to cover, but after that I dwindled off & did bits here & there. So yesterday I spent the morning putting all the photos I had into the album, I even went back to January & added that in as I started in Feb, did a title page & end page, today I am focusing on the journaling, which I have notes for. I look forward to your posts each week.

You sure can be proud Ali as your PL is awesome. I find that my family looks at my last 3 years of PL way more often than they do the other (scrapbook) pages. Maybe because they are all featured more often? I started PL in 2009 and almost quit when my sister died of colon cancer that year but I AM SO GLAD I DIDN’T…it wasn’t easy and my heart still aches a little looking at the pictures of her but I am so very grateful I had documented the story. Thank you for all of your own inspiration and a very happy 2012 to you.
