My word for 2012 is already on the list….TIME. I read a quote on a blog about time and then three days later my pastor shared an awesome message that confirmed tome that TIME was the word of choice for me this year. This is the third year I’ve had “One Little Word” and I want to thank you for the encouragement I received from your blog. It’s been a good habit to get into.

Happy New Year to you and your family!

Wow! Just working on my first class of OLW 2012 . . .so many unexpected surprizes in store. My word is FOCUS and it really chose me. I’m finding out why!
Last year I didn’t take the class, and may I recommend not missing Ali’s class to all you ladies. My word was significant for me last year, but now I wish I had been able to explore it more . . . it would have been very powerful! ah . . . hindsight!

(Which one is more opposite of “criticize”?)

I’ll decide soon and be back! (smile)

My word is ACHIEVE. Hope you like it. There are so many things I would like to achieve, that I would hope my kids can achieve, also things that I am happy my hubby has already achieved, etc. I think this is my word for 2012. It is great for motivation as well as looking back.

Ordinary… that is my word for Twenty Twelve… Inspired by Katrina Kenison and The Gift of an Ordinary Day… “It has taken awhile, but I certainly do know it now- the most wonderful gift I had, the gift I finally learned to cherish above all else, was the gift of all those perfectly ordinary days.”

It is always so inspiring to read all these uplifting words! My word (not on the list) is INVIGORATE. I played around with a lot of words, but kept coming back to this one. I want to invigorate and pump some energy into my life, my crafts, my home, my health. I want to shake things up and get energized!

My word is MANAGE ~ handle, control, to be in charge of and responsible for the outcome

I struggled with this word being too generic & administrative, but since choosing it, the ‘process-based’ logic of my mind kicked in and I’m so excited for my 2012 goals!

  • 126.
    Lisa said…

This is my first year to participate.
I’ve chose EXHILARATE. I hope this will
Help remind me that it’s ok to be happy and
Find joy, not only with the fun events in life,
but the trials and mundane moments as well. I often
Forget to find the pleasure in my blessings.

    Exhilarate:

    tr.v. ex·hil·a·rat·ed, ex·hil·a·rat·ing, ex·hil·a·rates
    1. To cause to feel happily refreshed and energetic; elate: We were exhilarated by the cool, pine-scented air.
    2. To invigorate; stimulate: bold designs that exhilarate the viewer’s imagination.

This year I am going to FOCUS. My word was bloom last year which was a lovely journey, even though I am very behind in the class, but I have signed up again because I enjoy the prompts and inspiration even if I don’t get things done….but then again, that is why I chose FOCUS cos I hope to finish a few things, and focus on what I want…

Ali, I was hoping to access the notes from December 2011 for OLW but I forgot to look before the classroom closed. Is there anyway of getting access to the handout? thanks.

This is such a fantastic list of such inspiring words! Kudos for compiling them all in one location.

My word for 2012 is: REASON

Initially, the word chose me because one of my mantras is that “things happen for a reason”. I’ve whole-heartedly believed this for better than the last decade.

Can’t wait to figure out the many and varied ways the verb and noun aspects of REASON will impact my life over the next 12 months! Will be taking the class to keep me motivated to embrace my word and paste it uppermost in my mind throughout the year.

Thanks for this wonderful list. I’m looking forward to a new year and our new class. I’ve finally landed on CREATE, which you already have on the list. Create in the way of having intention and bringing things into being and of course being creative too. I hesitated to use such a common word with my peers, but it says what I want to focus on this year. I choose to CREATE the life I want to live in all the ways I can. Last year was FLOURISH and it was wonderful!

My word is GIVE.. After spending much time preparing for this year, I just want to give more of myself to my family, to be present with them all the time, to give to my community and fellow man out of my time, my heart, my passions and talents.. Its a year to give back all that has made my life so richly blessed for so many years.

What an inspiring list. This is my first year choosing a word. After giving a good deal of thought, I’ve decided on DECIDE. I want to decide what is worthy of me/my time and then commit to making it happen :)

This is my year to focus on a few great ideas and see them through to completion! Thanks for all of your inspiring comments, and to you Ali for creating this class…Happy New Year everyone!

The word that keeps coming to me is “Curious”. I am not sure why the word seems so right but I think it has to do with asking more questions, being more humble, deepening understanding, and seeking out more boldly the possibilities that come with being more open and curious about myself and the world around me.
