December Daily® 2015 | Day Six

Welcome to December Daily® 2015 | Day Six.
I love including other voices in my album - today I'm doing that in the form of an email from my Mom that I formatted to fit on the back of the tag from Day 05.
In the video today I show you my step-by-steps as well as how to use the joy/stars silkscreen + paint that was included with the Main Kit and how I'm using the Fuse Tool for closing off some of my page protector pockets.
Here's a look at Day 06 from my foundation pages post:

And here's a look at Day 06 after including my story and making other adjustments:

As I mentioned above, the story for Day 06 is an email from my Mom that I received in the morning. I loved how she talked about some of the things she's thankful for (a nice addition after my own list of thankfulness for Day 05).

I copied and pasted the body of my Mom's email into an Illustrator file (you can use Photoshop, Word, etc) keeping in mind that the tag was 4 inches wide x 8 inches tall. The font is Remington Noiseless. After printing I used Super Sticky Red Tape to adhere the letter to the back of the tag and trimmed off the excess cardstock from around the edges.
To get the silver stars on the tag I used the silkscreen + the silver paint from the Main Kit (watch the video for a tutorial on how to use the screens). On top I added a metal-rimmed circle tag that I had put together when I did my foundation pages. I cut it in half using scissors from Tim Holtz.
At the top I used some great red + white twill ribbon from Paper Source to finish off the tag.

I decided to cut the 2 inch x 2 inch pocket page down to one strip of four pockets. I added a silver glitter star from the Main Kit and then added an Avery Indext Tab along the edge with stamped sentiments from the Holiday Circles stamp set.
Here's a look at the pages outside the album:

Think about the different ways that you could include another person's voice in your album. Emails, notes, things children bring home from school, stories you ask someone else to write, etc.

Your mom's email is beautiful. I see where you get your traits from, the graciousness, humility, kindness, and ability to find joy and gratitude, it's right there in that email. So kind. I love that you did something to the back of the tag pocket. I wouldn't have thought that far. It's a beautiful album. Michelle t

Hello! Does your mom have a blog? I can tell she shares your gift of story telling.

OMG I LOVE THIS!
And thank you SO MUCH for sharing that font name – I've been looking for the perfect typewriter font forEVER.
Also, fair warning: I may be "stealing" this idea for my Day 7, seeing as how my mom just now sent me an email that fits perfectly in my DD album and I have nothing else to include today! Thanks for the perpetual inspiration!

What is the "ack! I've been kissed by a dog" note about?!

Loving your December Daily pages so far! Kudos on not only living the day, putting together the layout, photographing everything, and putting together the blog post, but also doing a decently sized process video each day.

Looooove...Love that you're changing up page sizes, and that your stories goes deeper that "we did this, or we did that today". And from day one I've been liberated that the story doesn't have to be from that day. So much light in your album.

That is so cool. I echo your mom's sentiments. I feel especially close this time of year when I watch y'all day by day. Love you.

Love your ideas and videos. Maybe someone can help me. I did take the class Storytelling with December Daily but can't seem to find the cut files. I got the digital brushes but no cut files. Help please.
Replies to astoria150
Hi - the cut files are included in the Digital Folder. The main package is called "Digital" and when you open that folder it includes the PNG files, the Studio files, and the SVG files. They are all in there together. (There is a second digital set that everyone got that is just the PNG of the stamp set as well).
Well I got the png of the stamps but nothing else.
Hmmm. That's strange. You should have two digital packages for that workshop. Someone from my Customer Service team will be in touch with you.

Loved seeing the email from your mom. I took my day six in a slightly different direction but the inspiration came from your day six. I wrote a short letter to our children and grandchildren and then kept the 12 2x2 page protector and inserted each of their pictures to go along side the letter. We have 3 children and 9 grandchildren so this was perfect! Thank you so much Ali for all the inspiration.

Do you sell the screens that we can use for painting? If not, where can we find them?
Loving your December Daily videos! So inspiring.
Replies to PoochPatrol
Hi - that screen was included as part of the Main Kit: http://aliedwards.com/shop/december-daily/december-daily-main-2015. I don't have any others in my shop at this time but have included them in past Story Kits™ as well.

I just told my husband that at 9:00 (after the Voice, tee hee) i have to go work on my December Daily and that it's a good thing it's only 25 days because I'm always thinking about the day's story and how i can document it. This is such a gift during this season. It's the first one where our adult children really aren't around and we are finding our way through this together and I have a fabulous excuse to go into the Fun Room and do something I truly enjoy. Your videos are a special gift and full of great ideas, and the entire process is just nothing but fun. Thank you so very much!

I rarely comment on your posts (try to limit my computer time) but I just have to say how sweet that note from your Mom is! It almost made me tear up! I know I have a few notes from my parents expressing their pride in me and they are treasured possessions in my collection of memories. This might be my favourite page of yours so far this year <3
