Welcome to Project Life 2012 | Week Thirty-Five.
Two general maintenance things I did this week:
- I ordered another 12×12 We Are Memory Keepers album today to round out the year. I’m going with three total – four months in each album. I still need to do something for the first and last pages of my albums (except the first page of my first album for 2012 – you can see that intro page here). Adding that to my list.
- I added in my September monthly divider and I will move that over to the new album when it arrives.
I can’t believe we are entering fall.. Crazy, just crazy how fast it goes by.
This past week I’ve been thinking a bit about how to document my new relationship within this album.
It’s what’s real right now (and I’m really happy about it). I want to include stories about it without saying too little or too much.
This album, this project, is about me and it’s about my kids. The stories are about what’s happening to each of us in our lives right now, told through my personal lens and voice. I’m trying not to over think it – adding stories about the kids and stories about me and stories that include all of us – much of it dictated by the photos I have available.
As with everything else in life it’s a journey.
Open heart. Length and width. Up. You get the idea.
Here’s a closer look at Week Thirty-Five:
The font I use a lot on my photos is Sentinel.
While I was away for the weekend the kids were at Beach Camp with Grandma and Grandpa and they sent me this email along with scans of notes written by Simon and Anna. I liked keeping the email portion as it added context to the letters.
I spent the long holiday weekend with old and new friends at Hood Canal.
Amazing people, awesome weather, super good time.
This page ended up being all photos so I decided to add some Bella Blvd Yellow Chevron Designer Tape to a Hello Days Story Cards Grey to create a flip up card. The story card ends up outside the page protector and I’m fine with that.
Here’s a closer look at that:
I’m using a Slick Writer to add text to my photos.
Love adding these small word & phrase embellishments and popping them up with foam dots. I especially liked adding them right above the text I added to the photos in Photoshop before printing.
Repetition is a good thing.

Perfectly wonderful…. Always love your pages Ali. They are honest, true and heartwarming. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing this special time in your life. You deserve it. xo
Two things… No, make that three:
1. I <3 your album. The End.
2. I <3 that you are documenting your new relationship, and thank you SO MUCH for allowing us to read that story here.
3. How did you do that "hello sept…" photo???
Hi! “hello sept” and the journaling below is written directly onto the photo using a Slick Writer. I took the photo into the mirror on the boat.
So fun to see your PL pages each week. Love seeing Simon & Anna and how they’re growing. Also love seeing how your life is changing. All good.
looks like a perfect week – if you ask me. you deserve it
Lovely week, and lovely honesty!!
I am so happy for you and this new stage of your life! I hope it continues to bring you happiness.
Ali –
Once again great inspiration – Thank You for that!
Just got the My Minds Eye tiny words in my store last week – love them!
I am wondering if you could share how do you do the vertical line that divides your computer journaling?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Laura,
On my keyboard that vertical line is on the right hand side on the ‘\’ button – hope that helps!
Sarah, thank you so much! I never knew that was there… you learn something new everyday!
Thank you for sharing all your changes with us. I’m so happy for these good changes in your life. You deserve all the good that happens.
Hi Ali, love your pages as always. Wondering about the foam dot pieces – are those on the outside of the page protector or directly on the photos? Just wondering about the logistics, thanks!
directly on the photos
Thanks!
You happiness and new found peace just jumps right off the pages. Its personal and important and even if you don’t share-do document because its all a part of you! Thanks for taking us along on your ride! Joy to you!
I am screaming over the flipped card. SO, so awesome!
Happy to know you are happy. Love your album. I have a question, hopefully you can guide me…I’m trying to catch up with 17 weeks (yes, very behind) and I was wondering do you plan what pictures will go in what spot so your pages are even? I was doing the week where my baby turned one and I wanted to add lots of pictures of the birthday party we had for him but I didn’t count or plan ahead what pics I wanted and I ended with an “un-even” page and after this happened I came up with this question. Thanks for sharing your PL with all of us.
I look at each spread (the left + the right sides when laying flat) as one week. I often add page protectors in-between (like a sandwich) to hold additional photos if I have a lot from a specific week/event. This makes it so it’s never “uneven.”
There’s a lot of photos I take that I don’t include. I’ve got no intentions of including them all but when I go have a vacation or an event I’ll often include more via the addition or more page protectors.
I don’t really do a lot of planning. I’m conscious as I’m choosing photos that I’m going to usually want at least 7 (and they don’t have to be one for each day of the week).
So happy to see you’re happy Ali!
love this week a lot. especially those labor day photos. such genuine happiness in your smiles. that’s so awesome. i use a lot of hidden journaling to talk about my current relationship, though i guess that wouldn’t really work for anything too private, since this album is also for the kids. looks to me like you’re finding a good balance anyway!
also, i spied a beaver flag. if you come down for games, lets try and meet up before or after for a beer sometime!
Coming up tomorrow – first game in years and years
.
I love that you put this out in public … I’m sure through every thing, you’ve grown to see how much of an influence you have been in many lives. I too am trying to decide how much about a relationship to put in my PL. I love how you’ve done this!
I really do need to get me one of these kits!
My heart is happy for you….love this week in life.
Love your PL pages as always, Ali! So happy you are enjoying life and moving on to new adventures. Thanks for sharing with us here in blogland and for your continuous honesty with your readers! We love you!
so happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love how you constantly remind me that this just needs to be simple.
I get behind when I start looking around the internet and all these other people are making each 3×4 a mini scrapbook. They look fabulous but it puts stress on me to do more and then I just stop!
And your smile shows just how happy you are right now.
Thanks again for reminding me that this is my life I am documenting and not trying to keep up with the over achievers.
denise
Simple makes it happen for me!
THank you for sharing your life, it is truly inspirational Ali.
I’m just happy you are dating a Beaver fan now.
I’m pretty happy about that too

So happy for you and thank you for your authenticity. We all love that about you! I’d love to know how the “sept” photo was done too.

Exciting happy times captured beautifully
Ridiculously happy to see this week. You give me hope.
So happy you are so happy, Ali. You deserve it. xo
Awesome pages yet again! Such a good idea to include the emails from your parents… I need to get better at using stuff like that! I like your idea to include journalling on the second page with the life up journal card as well! I love the hands on aspect of it!
Love everything about this week’s spread!
Love this layout, Ali! The sentiment is so geniune and wonderful. So happy for you.
Also love Simon’s note!
I’m pretty sure I need to hire you as my divorce/life coach. =)

Just so very happy for you.
What is in your blender? It looks divine whatever it is!!
I admire your courage to be so open and honest with us and probably more importantly yourself.
A crazy concoction of fruits and raw vegetables (including beets). It was great!
Thank you! I really need to try this. Coming in to our summer and I always do fruits. Will turn it up with some raw vegies and must remember beets.
Super jealous of those clams!!!
So happy for you. Hood Canel is a beautiful place and we had great weather this past weekend. No rain for 40 some days straight.
Gotta love that.
So excited for your new adventure and what fun layout. Love that the kids went to Beach camp!!
Keep having FUN!

Okay, I”ll be the first to say it I guess: Your “G” man is a hottie!
And you two look so, so happy!!! Great pages as always Ali!
ditto on the last comment from Cindy above. I’m happy that you are happy and feeling alive again which can be difficult when marriages come to an end. Love your pages as usual. To the lady who has 17 weeks behind…umm… I beat her….other personal stresses still continuing from the ex but I have hope that I will get onto it before 2013 comes around. I have ordered my 2013 books (Seafoam edition) so I’d better get a move on. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia
I too am happy that you are happy. Thanks for sharing your life cycles. Makes ours a little easier to face.

Hey G., you are very lucky, do you know????
Oh, so much to love here…those pop up little words, a flip up journaling card (never thought of that!)…what you said about “surprised by life” (I love what they say in Dan in real life: “Plan to be surprised”) …and just to see you so happy. You make a great couple.
Oh and Anna’s gorgeous “A”‘s, love that too
