Project Life® 2024 | Week 02

Welcome to Project Life® 2024 | Week 02.

If you missed my intro post to this project for 2024 go here. That post includes a free PDF download of the weekly cards.

A couple things to note about Week 02:

  • Repeated journal cards for the win! This is something I loved in previous years of this project and it's likely you'll see it a number of times over the course of this year. I love finding something to repeat: a product like these frames and chipboard numbers, stamps, embellishments, etc. It takes away some decisions and helps me focus on the words + photos.
  • Inserts! It's likely I'll add inserts from time to time throughout this project. I'll probably also bring in some full page photos like I did in the past with this project. Keeping it loose and seeing what each week invites me to include.

Here's a video overview of the week coming together:

Let's dive in to the images:

The first insert includes a story about some of my adventures with Betty and lives on top of the speed I put together using the Start Story Kit.

I created a flip-open page using a sheet of pattern vellum (from last year's Story Play collection) and a 3x8 pattern paper from the Explore Story Kit. I stitched those two pages together and added an old kraft pocket on top (I think that was from the Grow Story Kit). I tucked a journal card inside from the Start Story Kit with a "currently" stamp on top and added a chipboard from the Start Story Kit on the outside of the pocket with the date stamped on top.

Stamp is from the Currently Stamp Set (digital version available here). I stapled a tab sticker on the top.

And then I added another card from the Story Kit on the back. You could add a photo here or more journaling too.

In the video you can see how I created a flap from a sheet of scratch paper to make this page fold open and then covered pieces of the flap with washi tape on the inside and outside. On the inside I've got a 3x8 page that is from the Hobby Story Kit and a word phrase sticker from the January 2024 Stories By The Month kit.

This is the spread I'd already done for the Start Story Kit classroom. Love the background photo spread across both pages.

On the back of the "starting this" story I adhered a full page photo of the ice/snow in our backyard. I love that sometimes I can add things on the photo and other times I can just let them tell the story.

In addition to the photo enlargement I added in a 6x8 page protector with four pockets for more photos and a couple tags from the January 2024 Stories By The Month kit.

I added a little bit of grosgrain ribbon through the holes and stapled it in place.

I love how easy it is to add more photos if I want by simply adding in another page protector.

On the back of the tag I printed out some journaling on Maco Sticker Paper and added a word/phrase sticker on top.

Here's a look without inserts:

Pens used for my journaling this week include the Slick Writer, a brush pen, and a Micron

Hi Ali, Are you using the medium size brush pen? I'm having trouble getting the brush stroke to look as full as yours. Any suggestions?

I think that's the one I'm using! I've got multiples here and I just grab whichever one is closest on my desk!

I'm not sure what's wrong with my profile but when I click the links they all lead to "bummer The page you're looking for could have been deleted or doesn't exist."
Then I can't find the digital stamps etc on the normal site. Please help :)

Hi! I'm wondering if it because those are some of the ones available to subscribers first (meaning they are not active in the shop yet). I have access to things that might not be live in the actual shop just yet. I like to link those so that they will work when/if they become available. Checking with our team!

This is fabulous! I have done Project life exactly like this for the last few years and I love it. I mix up sizes and I love the breaks it gives you in the full size pocket pages! Love that you are using up stash too! I am a stories by the month subscriber and the changes to this years kit is fab so far. I liked Lisa's lessons in the SBTM classroom last year as she does inserts and varies sizes too! Thanks for sharing your progress here on the blog.

Merci Ali, I'm here for inspiration. I haven't been able to create since the beginning of January and although I love scrapbooking, I can't find the inspiration or energy to get back to it. Hopefully Ali is always very inspirational for me and so I am now jotting down new ideas that pop into my head. Thank you, I need to create.
