Thank you so much for sharing your words in the comments of my first 2013 One Little Word post.
The comments, as always, are so uplifting and inspiring. If you don’t see your word included below please leave it in the comments and I’m happy to add it to this list as it’s totally possible we missed one or more were added before we developed the list. Last updated 1/6/13.

i have chosen the word moxie. See you in class.
This needs a LIKE button!
Pollyanna is my word for 2013. More often than not I don’t: : a person characterized by irrepressible optimism and a tendency to find good in everything….but I want to.
I think you have a great word. It made me smile. I have been told so often in my life to stop being a Pollyana. This is just how Gid made me. So to see positive affirmation of the word brings joy to my soul…
There is a phrase I always say but it escapes me know. I alway give everyone the benefit if doubt… I don’t want to be the person who did not believe in them even though what appeared to be them was bad in someway. Sometimes I am proven wrong and people lie but there are the times I am right and someone proves God’s grace.
Thank you, Heather. I have a friend who has that very same outlook and I admire her. I think that her heart is always free from the negative and while she gives others the benefit of the doubt, that she herself, is the true receiver. I’m glad you like it and that it made you smile. =)
Love it! Great choice.
My word is TODAY. Today is a world of possiblity…
That’s my word too! This year I had so many to choose from, but Today really sums them all up!
Since its not on the list my word is ME
I’ve spent a life time always thinking of others I won’t really stop that but I will try and concentrate on making me happier this year! Sometimes you just have to start with yourself! Seeya hugya G
Two years ago, my word was my own name! I spent that year learning what self-care means. You’ll be blessed!
That is so awesome…
Great word! I think we all struggle with focusing on ourselves. Don’t want to seem selfish. My word is “change” which is about me and the changes I want in my life whether good or bad.
That is such a good word and perfect reasoning behind it. I also pay more attention to others than myself, and totally need to do that more. Good luck!
LOVE reading these words Ali! So excited for this new year and whatever it may bring. Read your first message in OLW and even more excited now. Thanks so much for inspiring us and letting us go on this journey with you!
Happy New Year!
“Chill” is my One Little Word for 2013, reminding me to relax and just let things be, not to get so worked up, frustrated and impatient. We are going thru a major life change this year and I want to try to approach it with expectation, excitement and fun instead of what I usually do!
Loving the list of words, including my own.
Confident and engaged…
My word always chooses me it seems. This year 2 have. Trust and Unoffended.
My word for 2013 is ‘Energizing’. I don’t just want to live my life but I want to make it more ‘energizing’. I am looking forward to the class!
My word for this year is FLEXIBLE. It’s so very easy to do things the same way all the time (it’s the safe thing to do!), that I need to let go of the sameness and be more flexible!
Hi Ali, I’m so excited for a new year and a new word! I have chosen zip!
Happy New Year everyone!!!
Rebuild!!!
My word last year was Shift and it really was where I was at in my life. I remember you really liking my word last year when we were at Your Story. Happy New Year!
Nourish is my OLW
Judi…that is my word too!
Nourish my body better,
Nourish my soul with more consistent Bible reading,
Nourish my family with love
Nourish my friendships
Nourish my creativity by dedicating more time to my pursuits
And so on!
Ive read through all the words…and nourish means the most to me. So life giving in every way.. I hope to nourish every part of my life this year! Thank you for summing up ll my feelingsin one word.
happy new year all, excited to make a final choice on my word today!…..for last year, my word was YES (thought you might want to add it to the list)
XO
My word for 2013 is energy, this year changes coming to my life, need resting me, need to recover after the difficulties of 2012 and I need all the energy to carry it out
and Happy New Year to you and all your readers!!
My word for this year is abide. Learning to be present in this one, beautiful moment instead of dragging in the past or rushing ahead to the future. So hard, but hopefully worth it.
Thanks for the list. I had chosen prioritize, but last night I changed it (after working with the thesaurus and quote finders). Instead, I’m going with paramount. It’s a similar idea, but a prettier word and more on-the-nose for what I want.
Rinda
Oh how intersting. i had been struggling and when i heard the word prioritize it seemed to answer my question and so i have stopped thinking about! i think it will work for me..i hope it wil! I chose quest last year and I don’t think it was right but I did stick with it…a friend suggested discover would have been an easier way to go perhaps.
such a fascinating project!! so interesting to hear others coming to their word and their thoughts! thank you for sharing.
I haven’t finalized my word yet – there are several in my mind.
I did have a question – is there a promo for the Alumni from the past years. I heard mention of it – but didn’t get an email regarding it. Can anyone advise – Thanks
Happy New Year!!!
My OLW for 2013 is refreshed
My word is SAVE
My word is “IN”
My word is RECLAIM. So many changes to start to reclaim and reconfirm my life as I want it to be.
My word is Lucky, because I am and I need to focus on it more.
You took the words out of my mouth! I couldn’t agree more….LUCKY and want to start living that way.
Ali, I love the idea of one little word, I will be signing up later this week and hope to really grab a hold of my word and have an amazing and life changing year. The last few years have not been easy and I have struggled with life and at many times felt like my life was running me. I struggled with depression and a way over scheduled life and family all adding to more stress and a sence of helplessness. Last year after reading about this concept I decided to give it a try, I didn’t sign up for the class, but I did choose a word and it was happy. Just choosing a word and trying to focus on it was huge. I felt like I really could be happy, and for the first time in a really long time I felt that way. Not all the time, but I had made a choice to try and that choice made all the difference in my life. So Ali, thank you so much for all you do with this, one little word really can change your life, it may have actually saved mine. I can’t wait to actually take the class and truly embrace my word for this year, CONNECT. I am going to actually plug in and connect with my life, truly connect with my husband and kids, and really connect with others. I can’t wait to see where this will take me.
So happy you are doing this Wendy! I can relate to a lot of what you are saying!!! 2013 WILL be a better year for all of us!
Wendy, that was my 2010 OLW and it worked wonders – good luck!
I love reading the list of words each year. Definitely a fave post.
my word is “neat”
love this list!!
The word I am choosing is Thrive. Last year I think I merely exsisted. This year I want to thrive! 1 : to grow vigorously : FLOURISH 2 : PROSPER 3 : to progress toward or realize a goal despite or because of circumstances —
That is my word as well! Enjoy the journey!
My OLW is humble. I need some more humility in my life.
My word is curiosity! And I’m so excited to approach this year with curiosity and wonderment. I’m ready to try new things and focus on what really interests me.
My word is PROGRESS, I want to be able to look back at this year and see progress in a couple areas of my life. Like weight, I get discouraged when I weight each day but now its about the whole year not that one day. It’s about my daily life choices that in the end will add up to progress. I will also be taking on the second half of our house remodel, so I will definately see progress there! I am excited to start the OLW class and see where 2013 takes me!
My word is PROGRESS.
Mine is moderation.
My OLW is “journey”. Love reading the list.
My word is Nourish
My OLW for 2013 is CRAFT, back to basics this year
mine is – reconnect- with family, friends, with nature, with myself…..
challenge. I want to challenge myself to be my best and do my best this year
My word is NOURISHMENT and I’m determined to complete One Little Word this year
Mine is restored.
My OLW had not shown its face to me until I was reading through the list and comments. Over the years I have been purposefully growing as a person, each year trying to become better than the last and I had put some thought into what I wanted to improve on in 2013 but I didn’t realize until just now that I want to RENEW myself in more ways that in years past. Thanks Ali and all for the inspiration to carry on.
My word is simplicity.
My word is VIEW. Excited to see where this takes me.
taste
Are we able to get our word in the circle design. I am seeing lots of people posting there word this way. Thanks
My word this year is ASPIRE. I want to aspire more…organization, activity, self improvement, grateful, open. I love what this word represents to me. I have done OLW for the last four years and truly am thankful for what it has brought or taught me! Thank you for being such a positive inspiration Ali…you really touch so many lives.
Happy New Year!
mine too…
that is so awesome,
we each get courage from each other
I am choosing SATISFIED. Something i need to be more of in my life.
In trying to live more purposefully each day and not be insane about planning the next day or week or month
I chose the word TODAY!
