Happy New Year.

Happy 2007!

We spent the night in Portland last night with our friends the Locken's. This was the second year of their kid-friendly party and again, it was perfect (especially the part where we get to spend the night). And we got to meet two-week old baby Sawyer. Sigh. Love that.

Now it is time to get back to reality. Back to work and to schedules and to a couple months of travel. I am making some big changes this year with my schedule. I have events scheduled for the first three months and then after that I will only be traveling/teaching for CKU's and at trade shows (+ meetings in Utah). I will miss meeting all the awesome people at store events, but this is the right choice for our family at this time. I am taking on some more responsibilities for the magazine that will enable me to be home more (doing more work from home). Look for some exciting things to come from me - including another book - later in the year.

I am really looking forward to hunkering down here and getting creative, challenging myself to take things in new directions.

Chris gets to move into his office at the state capital in Salem tomorrow. He has his office number, his desk number on the house floor, and his hour and 20 min commute (one way) to look forward to (excited to do a layout about the new numbers in his life). He will be sworn in on January 8th and immediately getting into his new groove. Can't believe it is all real.

Simon has one more week off before heading back to school and getting into his normal routine. This next year will see a re-evaluation of his diagnosis and in the fall, a potential move to kindergarten - depending on how it all goes (and what his teachers recommend). He has come such a long way over the last two years - it will be exciting to see what is next for him. One of my favorite things from this last night was comments from both Amy and Jason on how much he has developed - and how much more he is talking - since just a few months ago. Love that.

One big deep breath in and out. Here we go.

Remember: Just breathe!! What an exciting 2007 it looks like it will be. I'm glad you're simplifying your life. I bet Simon will enjoy more time with you this year. Good luck to Chris this year as he starts a new chapter in his life traveling to Salem and helping all of us Oregonians.

You have been such an inspiration for me this year -- not only artistically, but personally and professionally as well. I've watched you embrace the unknown and trust in the rightness of what the future holds for you -- and it has given me the confidence to follow my own dreams with a lot more confidence and trust.
All the best to you, Chris and Simon in this new year. I'm looking forward to seeing what new creative directions you'll be exploring -- but almost more than that, I am very much looking forward to reading more about your perspectives, beliefs, and how you're approaching all that life has to offer you. Much of what you have shared over the past year has helped me to crystalize what's truly important to me -- and to have the courage to follow those convictions. For that, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
A happy and healthy 2007 to you and your lovely family...

    Ali-
I have loved every minute of what you have done in 2006, and I so respect your decision to make your career right with your family life. I'm also so glad that I've already signed up to take your class at Get Croppin in February in Virginia! Raising our children is the most important thing we can do (and supporting each other is the second most important thing). Way to go girl! See you in February!

It all sounds so very exciting, Ali! And I cannot wait to start getting your newsletters again. The best news from you, though, is another book! I was hopeful you'd begin working on one. I wasn't expecting you to announce one to release this year!
You're the biggest reason I love CK magazine, so it's wonderful you'll have an even bigger presence. I hope to hear more about it soon.
The best of luck to Chris and Simon. Happy New Year!

    Happy New Year!
I think it's great you'll be able to do more from home with some cool trips in there as well. My dd will be 4 1/2 in Feb and the time is flying by so I cherish the time I have with her & I know you do the same with Simon.
I really enjoyed your Week in the Life track at CKU-A San Jose '06 and my SIL and I are hoping to go to Anaheim this year. We have promised each other that regardless, we are going to pick a week for the next four years to document and make our own Week in the Life to fill up our BayBox.
Very exciting about Chris' new adventure.
    Best for you in 2007
