Crazy times.
Just a quick check-in from here in Detroit. Had a crazy couple of days getting ready - including three hours of sleep before catching a plane here on Wednesday.
So glad that people were touched by that story from The Washington Post (see post below). I can't stop thinking about it either...especially as I traveled through airports the last couple of days. Awareness is a powerful thing.
Getting ready for day one of classes here at CKU Detroit tomorrow. Teaching my Week In The Life album that was updated from last year - same concept new design. I know for many of you, attending a CKU may just not fit into your schedules (or your travel budget). One cool thing that will be happening is that my new book will include the previous year's Week In The Life project with instructions so you can get a sense of how I worked with all the content and tracked a week in my life. Totally one of my favorite projects.
As someone said in an email it is all about capturing, collecting, reflecting, and then creating.
Excited to meet all the students in my class tomorrow (and then a second class on Saturday). There is always so much anticipation and nerves in the beginning...looking forward to getting in the groove.

Thanks for the link to the article Ali ~ an amazing picture of the dream state we sometimes find ourselves in, just floating along. I love that "scrapbooking" helps me to at least try to feel "awake" in my daily life...to recognize the beauty that surrounds us. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Ali- I totally enjoyed meeting you!! I always crack up when I see people get awe struck by a "celebrity" but, I truly meant it when you were the reason my Pino (palo) and I went. It was an amazing day. You have inspired me to get out there and just embrace my imperfections and scrap!! You are an amazing person and I am so glad I got the oppurtunity to meet you.

Took your Friday Week in the life class, and I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed myself, even if I was at the "serious" table by the door! LOL! You inspire me to look at the not so obvious, and to take a minute to live in the moment. Thank you so much! Now I gotta get my butt in gear to complete my album. I am truly a life artist now. thanks for renewing my "passion" for scrapbooking. I completely loved doing your album track & meeting you at CKU-Detroit. I'm so inspired to capture my life as it is & go with the flow. I love that I remind you of your wonderful pal, Paolo. Thanks for the great name badge- it is so "ME"!

So, I bought your new CK kit at 11:02pm PDT and I can't wait to get it! I'd love to join in on the 5th with everyone but, I must go to Central Oregon for a b-day party for my great-aunt.

Are you teaching a class at CKC-Seattle?? I couldn't take yours in Portland because of my nursing son but, he'll be done with that by November! ;)

you are doing an amazing thing--this fundraising for Autism speaks--the good news is that you have raised a lot of money in a fairly short period of time and the GREAT news is that it is all happening without you personally having to expend the energy--it is happening because of you and for you and others--that is awesome!!
I believe good people have good things happen for them and because of them--and you my dear, are one of those good people.
