Happy Monday!

Just checking in quick - had an AWESOME time this weekend at Scrapbook Attack. Great store. Great employees. Great students. One of the coolest things was having students that I have met in the past show up for these classes. Lots of smiling faces.

Today I am working here at home. Simon and I took a little adventure down to our local Mac store this morning and bought a new computer set up for me. My old G4 was just having too much trouble keeping up - so Chris gets to have it (I think he does want it LOL - never know with those PC guys - not such an easy thing for them to make the switch LOL) and I get a new BABY to play with and nurture and fill up with all kinds of goodies!

I have some cool links to share with you later after I load Firefox on here - right now just working out of Safari and it is not set up the same in my Typepad window.

Can I just say again how much I love Portland?

Also, in honor of Dr. King, I wanted to share one of my favorite quotes:

Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time; the need for mankind to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence. Mankind must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.

We are in search of a new Mac as well. Ours is just ...tired...! Glad you had a good weekend, Thanks for the MLK quote. I wish that my 2nd grader was in school today learning more about Dr. King but I also understand the need for the day off to honor him as well. Tried to talk with him a few times today about MLK to help him understand the reason for the day off of school better.

What a coincidence! Just listened to a Dutch podcast last night about Apple, where they were listening and commenting on Steve Jobs' key note speach during the Macworld Expo. The guys were SO excited because Steve announced the debut of Macs with Intel processors, which will make them 4 to 5 times faster than a G5? I see on apple.com that they are available too. I know all those geeks on that podcasts couldn't wait to own one and there were also a few people present who bought a G5 about a week ago and were going to try and take it back...
Ok, other than this I know NOTHING of Macs :) I just listen to that podcast for more info on my beloved iPod Video ;) (and there was no news on iPods whatsoever...) I think the Netherlands are very pc-minded, you hardly see anyone with or hear anyone about a Mac. But I'm looking into it... I hear good things and they sure are pretty...
Just interested to hear what you bought exactly and how that will work for you!

P.S. Just checked my facts on the podcast's website :) The Intell processor makes the new laptop (MacBook Pro) 4 to 5 times faster than their fastest laptop to date. It makes the iMac 2 to 3 times faster. Don't want to spread any false info here :)

My hubby is just listening to the whole Steve Jobs thingo and had just finished telling me all about the Intel thingo too. They're always doing some fangdangled thing to these computers. I have a G4 too, and a G4 laptop, and hope to upgrade this year sometime. Well, i won't have much choice cause it's getting way slow.
Anyway, blah, blah, enjoy your new machine!!! They're such a sexy thang too!

Ok Ali, which Mac did you purchase?? I've had my Powerbook G4 for 2 1/2 years (I think) and it still suits me just fine, BUT I am lusting over the new Macs with the Intel chips. I think I'll wait just a little bit longer though.

Ok, here I am again :)
Just finished looking at the Steve Jobs thingamagjig myself and I am SO sold!!
All those features in iLife! Easy podcasting and blogging and building websites and working on photos and and and....
Definitely putting a Mac on my things-to-get-in-2006-list (which has only 2 items on it so far, a Mac and a digital SLR...) :)
Hey, if Ali needs it, so do I, right? :)

Aww I am envious! I have a reverse situation here. I'm a Mac user who has now received a hand-me-down PC. It's not the tragedy I expected but it definitely doesn't inspire the emotions and loyalty of an Apple product. You'll have the entire family converted in no time!

So you probably got the new G5 with the Intel chip? I have apple envy....I just switched over ( http://jessicak.typepad.com/bits_and_pieces_of_me/2005/11/weve_crossed_ov.html ) from a pc and am NEVER looking back. Had a few growing pains but I am getting the hang of this and love it! BTW - how long did your G4 last. I am curious to see how long this one will go. Before we were going through a pc every 1 - 1 1/2 years. Congrats and have fun...
