Crazy times.

Just a quick check-in from here in Detroit. Had a crazy couple of days getting ready - including three hours of sleep before catching a plane here on Wednesday.

So glad that people were touched by that story from The Washington Post (see post below). I can't stop thinking about it either...especially as I traveled through airports the last couple of days. Awareness is a powerful thing.

Getting ready for day one of classes here at CKU Detroit tomorrow. Teaching my Week In The Life album that was updated from last year - same concept new design. I know for many of you, attending a CKU may just not fit into your schedules (or your travel budget). One cool thing that will be happening is that my new book will include the previous year's Week In The Life project with instructions so you can get a sense of how I worked with all the content and tracked a week in my life. Totally one of my favorite projects.

As someone said in an email it is all about capturing, collecting, reflecting, and then creating.

Excited to meet all the students in my class tomorrow (and then a second class on Saturday). There is always so much anticipation and nerves in the beginning...looking forward to getting in the groove.

I so wish I could attend one of your CKU classes! Unfortunately, it's not possible with two small kids and a husband who travels way too much. I'm so glad "A Week in the Life" will be included in your new book!! :) Have a great time in Detroit!

I LOVED my 'week in the life' from Chicago last year! I wish I was in Detroit with you. Unfortunately $3897 in truck repairs has stopped me from going anywhere but my basement to scrap! HA HA
People will love the class and love you. KNock em dead!!!

Have fun in Detroit! One day I'll get to a CKU! For me, I wish they did them closer in time to a CHA so I could combine both in one trip to the US. But alas, it'll never happen (and I can understand). Might see you at CHA in Chicago?

I am so glad to hear that the Week In The Life album will be your new book. I've never taken a class from you (I'd love to, though) but I've heard a lot about this album. I've been interested in the concept for a long time and have wanted to do it.

I can't thank you enough for recommending scrapbookpictures.com. I just got my order today (currently stationed in Japan) and I love them! My new favorite size is 3x3. Thanks for the great tip. I'll be ordering from there from now on. You're the best! :)

on a broader scale, that story reminds me that we never know who our "neighbor" may be: what they've experienced, gone through, what happened to them that morning or the night before. perhaps if we could remember that we each have our own story to tell, secrets and all, the world be a more patient place. we would all be a little more at peace with each other and ourselves.

Just read the interview you did at Scrap Girls and it was great. Awesome to see your face on there. I was surprised when I read that you struggle with balance and trying to find structure in your day. You seem so organized already. I struggle with that issue myself. I guess a lot of us moms do.

I've never even looked into CKU. That sounds so fun! I would love to go to Nashville... we used to live there, and I absolutely love the Opryland hotel. Too bad budget says "hahahaha!" ;)
And you have no reason to be nervous, girl. I'm positive they are all stoked to see you.

Ali, I was in your week in a life class last year at CKU-A Chicago. I can't believe it's already been a year! That class totally has changed the way I scrapbook and look at life - from the journalling of small daily details to the mixing of patterned papers to my daily checks of your inspirational blog. Thank you for everything you do. You are very, very special!

How on earth do you do & read so much?! Sat down at my computer 2 hours ago with the resolution to do nothing else before I printed the pictures I've been trying for 2 weeks to do. But first, as I finished my coffee, wanted to check out your blog...which led to reading Jody's blog & the Wash Post article. I caught the NPR broadcast about the subway concert & was blown away by the incredible sound of Joshua Bell AND by the lack of response by passersby. The article is a sad reminder to us to STOP & SMELL THE ROSES! I've become so much more aware of LIFE since seriously scrapbooking.
I cannot wait for your book to come out. You keep teasing us with content previews, but I'd probably buy it anyway.
Come to Wichita, KS sometime to do a class, puh-leez!

I took your Week in the Life class last summer in San Jose. I would take it all over again. I hope CKU will be back in SJ next summer. This class changed how I scrapbook. I was a chronological scrapper before. Now I do whatever I love or touches my heart. My pages are much more meaningful now. The biggest change from your class was how I view my roles as mom, wife, and domestic goddess. I came to really appreciate all that I do. To see the impact I have on people, directly and indirectly. Also, I play with my artist way more now. Thanks for touching my life. Therese
