My favorite thing about memory keeping now...I've always kept journals. What I love about keeping them now is that I incorporate my writings into my scrapbooks with pics from now & then. My 7 year old & I were recently looking through a journal I wrote at 10 years old. I wanted to live in a mansion (that didn't happen), drive a pink corvette (again, a big nope), get married(that happened!), have girls (that happened too!) & I wanted to own my own store. My daughter starting quesitoning me why I never did that-how did my plans change...a great time for me to reflect & an amazing opportunity to talk to my daughter about how life..and I still really want that store!

My favorite thing right now is going through old books and remembering what we have done and where we have been. We really have been around the past few years. :)

My favorite thing about memory keeping right now is my son't face when we look through his albums. He's only 3..but he gets it. He says, "Wook at me mommy!" "That's me when I was a baby!" The expression on his face and the enthusiasm that I hear in his voice just proves to me that it is something special. That our lives as we live them is what memories are made of. Love that. :)

My family has always been big on telling stories from the past and laughing together over fun times we have had. Over the last few years we have all had a lot of stress and saddness--my parents divorce, my mother's illnesses, financial troubles etc. It has been harder and harder to laugh and harder to keep telling the stories. I hope that by keeping our stories in the form of pictures and writing we will never experience another period of absence from storytelling and laughing.

    Hey Ali -
My thing lately has been to try documenting the things I typically document in a journal (rather than a scrapbook) as an ART journal. It's a new project for me, but I'm quite excited about it. Combining art/paper/etc with my love of journaling is something I've been wanting to do for a while!

My favorite thing about memory keeping right now is being able to freeze one moment in time that I will be able to go back to later in life. I hope that through this process that my children will know how I felt about these memories for years to come.

Well at this time in my life, everything is moving so quickly. So at the moment I`m just enjoying each day as it comes.....and being grateful that it does indeed arrive. I want to keep my mind excited about the tiny ( and big ) things that happen each and every day, and be inspired to share these moments with my family.

My favorite thing about memory keeping is leaving a photographic journal for my descendants to enjoy years from now. I became interested in genealogy a few years back because my dad wanted me to find info on his family. After finding a lot of statistical info such as dates, places, etc... I realized that one thing was missing... family photos. A lot of the family photos & the family bible were burned in a house fire years ago. I wish I had pictures of my great-grandparents, and I hope that my scrapbook albums will last for several generations.

My favorite thing about memory keeping is documenting all the things that my kids have done or said. Taking the time to write down a funny comment or silly story is what I cherish. Looking back, I wish that my mother would have done that for me. My kids already love looking at their scrapbooks and asking about those sweet things that they have done. I hope that it inspires them to document their lives someday.

I would have to say my favorite thing is making wall art and displaying my memories around the house on some type of canvas. I also like to make small ones as gifts to my friends.

Hey Ali! What a great giveaway!
My favourite thing about memory keeping is when you look back at your albums and have all those memories come flooding back. I recently moved house and as I was unpacking my albums I sat for ages just looking through them.
    Take Care!

My favorite thing right now is writing down the things my boys say *in their exact words* and using that to inspire my pages. It's so fun to remember the funny things my son said at two now that he's four!
What a fun giveaway...I love that road-sign shaped map paper! How fun would that be to document a family trip?!
Love your blog Ali, and I always find inspiration (even in the way you deal with feeling uninspired!) Thank you!

I'm really enjoying scrapbooking and taking pictures of our normal everyday life. Not just the events, but who we are and what we do.

My favorite thing right now is that I feel like I'm finally starting to ENJOY this hobby instead of stressing that I can't get all my projects done, I'm relaxing and just doing what I can when I can with what I have!!! It's a beautiful thing!
Thanks for all your inspiration! :)

I scrapbook because I know there will be a time in my kid's life where they will not hear my voice or I will not be there to speak to them. I hope my words are powerful enough to get them through those times, that my life lessons will not be lost.

My favorite thing about memory keeping right now is that because of its current popularity, there are so many wonderful, innovative, and beautiful products out there to play with, and that the hobby has been around long enough for some super-talented and creative people to have emerged to encourage, teach, share with, and inspire us. I'm thinking back to what would be my very first scrapbook: I was still in junior high back then, and I would cut out (with scissors--no straight, smooth edges there!) articles, pictures, etc., that interested me from newspapers and magazines and glue them into a 'sketch book' by Hilroy that was little more than large pages of thin grey newsprint bound together like a tear-off notepad (no spiral bindings there!) with very thin (think elementary school art class construction paper) cardboard covers. Scrapbooking has come a long way since then, for which I'm ever grateful!
Thanks for the opportunity, Ali: I'd absolutely love to have one of those kits (especially since I can't buy it myself anymore!)!

I got into scrapbooking late. My daughters are now 17 and 19 years old, and I am currently working on their baby albums. It is so very important to me to journal the memories from back then. I find myself spending many hours just trying to get back those moments, those words, those emotions. It has been at times frustrating, exhilarating, bittersweet, touching, and even exhausting. I recall pooh-poohing the idea of journaling when I first began scrapbooking: a picture's worth a thousand words, right? Then why do I need to journal? Then fear & loathing set in when I realized I didn't even know how to start. Now I have a 3-ring binder full of inspiration for my journaling. It has been - and continues to be - an uplifting and wondrous journey. I can only guess how much this will mean to my daughters down the road. Thanks, Ali, for letting me ramble on - and for your inspirational blog.

My favorite thing is to have the kids take my camera and shoot their own photos. Their view of things are so different from mine and it keeps my ideas fresh and new!!I love it and am thankful when I view the world through their eyes. A bonus for sure!
