Sweet Peach
Our little sweet peach fancy pants.
I love how nicknames tend to take on a life of their own. Peach. Sweet peach. Fancy pants. And then of course you have to string some of them all together. So many different terms of endearment - some stick and some fade over time (thankfully).
I am pretty sure I captured some of Simon's nicknames ("Simon-bug" & "bugga bugga" were early favorites) but would need to go back through his albums to see how many I really documented. Those are the little things that we lose way too quickly if they don't get written down.
Anna's doing great. She's gaining weight (almost 7 pounds now) and being awake a bit more. I am feeling better and more confident in general. Finding my way once again through the maze that is baby-ness.
My sister-in-law Liz was here this past weekend. There is nothing quite like having very helpful people around - especially ones who are excellent cooks and who have a special way with infants. Liz is amazing. We love her and are so glad she was able to visit.
I think I finally decided on a direction to take on a 12x12 scrapbook for Anna. I am working on and documenting in the "Reflections" book but am starting to envision what will go into her first larger album. I'll share more on that in the coming weeks as it begins to come together.

Oh my gosh Ali, she is a little angel - too adorable. I love reading about the nicknames too.
Also, I'm amazed how organized you've kept with an infant. It's very inspiring.

What a beautiful baby photo. Love the baby belly and toes. The knicknames are the best. My niece was "tood-sta-yama-yama!" for month! Don't ask where it came from, just a silly song we sang to her one day!

Awww...Ali, she is so perfect! When my 7 year old daughter was a baby, I called her "peach", "butter-bean", "monkey", and "lovebug." I still call her peach every day. sometimes peachy-weachy or peachy-pie, but usually just peach. well, i guess i still call her monkey sometimes too, but mostly peach! :)

ali-
so TOTALLY know what you mean about the nicknames! we called our daughter "bean" which sometimes turned into 'jumping bean', 'string bean', 'lima bean', even 'kidney bean' (now THERE'S one we could have done without!).
your daughter is beautiful, and i am happy for your family!

Ah, yes! I have big plans for an "AKA" LO documenting all the nicknames our sweet girl had in the early months. Only "Peanut" has stuck, and I am still amazed she says her name is Claire, given how much we have used her nickname in her 21 months.
Anna is adorable! She looks like you. So much fun!

Oh my gosh, is she adorable! I can't wait until my daughter has our first grandchild in July and I can hold a baby like yours. Just can't wait!
We love nicknames, too, and several of them have stuck with our kids, even though 2 are in college and one is now married. I'm sure we will have plenty of nicknames for my daughter's baby, too!
Thanks for always sharing your life with us. I look forward to reading about you, Simon, Chris and Anna every day.

Ali - I have to tell you that a couple of my friends and I check your blog daily, but since you have been posting pictures of Anna I find myself checking several times a day! She really is precious. Enjoy this time. I remember with my first child I spent hours just holding him and staring at him, and when the second child came I didn't have the time to do that, and it made me a little sad! So.. take the time to stare!!

I called my firstborn daughter Peaches! How funny. It sort of came from nowhere, too. I love nicknames that are like that. My girls both had songs/tunes of their own, too. :) Anna's a doll!

Ali, I just had to share. when I was little, maybe 2 or 3, my grandfather gave me the nickname of "choo choo". He said I walked like a little train engine, from side to side and with a lot of power! My father started calling me this and over the years it was shortened to "Chooch". I am going to be 43 this month and don'tcha know my father, to this day, still calls me "chooch"! The right one will just fit. Enjoy your new sweetness.

Some of our best friends just had their own baby girl this weekend. It's their first. And they are really proud of the name they chose and kept a secret until she was born from EVERYONE! (Since she shares the same first name as me, I'm really fond of it as well)
New Dad took offense when he his own dad said he was gonna have to think of nicknames for her- he told his dad that she had a name and that was it. . . she didn't need a nickname. I mentioned this very post when he relayed the story to me. I explained that one of my own nicknames was little bit- that perhaps his dad was just talking about the little names we call wee little ones.
