For The Love Of Cousins

We were all a little sad to have the cousins go home after the Halloween holiday.

Those three sweet girls were all born within eight months of each other.

We miss them at breakfast.

We miss the silly giggles.

We miss the group adventures.

Not missing anything here. Just love.

Anna misses having s same-sized partner in the backseat who is really great at sharing goldfish.

Simon misses having pals watch videos with him in my office.

And misses having someone to race.

Come back again sweet cousins. We all loved having you here.

So sweet! I loved having a cousin the same age and sex to grow up with, one on each side of the family it was wonderful. I am sure your kids will cherish their cousins as much as I do mine.

Ali, I love these photos, especially the close-up of Ms. Anna. There is some super cool bond that cousins have together. It is a gift.

What a great post! Love the tight soft shot of Anna and her hat! My two boys (teen & tween) have no cousins. Kind of sad to see what they're missing...

My sister has a daughter who is only 6 mos older than ours and we miss them horribly and wished they lived closer. When they are together the moments are blissful and so very wonderful. Cousins are your first friends, wish we could all have more playdates.

While my kids were growing up my husband and I held a "Cousins' Camp" every summer. We have family kind of spread out, and one in the military, so this was a great way to connect. We had a theme every year, the kids camped in tents in the back yard, it was usually 3 days long, no parents, but many years we had the Grandparents from AZ just so they could enjoy their grandchildren. We did this for about 8 years, until most of the cousins grew up and moved on to lives and families of their own. Some years we had many (19) and some years we had few (7) but every year was a ton of fun. There is nothing like the immediate and unconditional connection with family.

Awesome photos! I have a question about them: No matter how many settings I try, I just don't get the pictures with a crisp foreground and a blurry background, like yours are most of the time. How do you do this? I only get this if I use a telephoto lens.

Oh, this makes my heart ache! We moved (b/c of work -- not willingly!) across the country, away from my sister and my nephew who was like another sibling to my three. :(

Sometimes this small world of ours is just too darned big.

Awesome photo's! I also had close cousins (my Mom's sister was coincidently married to my Dad's closest brother) and wonderful memories of visits back and forth.

I grew up on a farm with all but 2 of my 19 cousins within a half hour of my house. My cousins are like my brothers and sisters. We spent a lot of time together...making up outdoor games, riding horses, celebrating each others' birthdays, having sleepovers. Even now, we look forward to getting together with each other on camping trips or family reunions. Us girl cousins (and the wives of the boy cousins) have started a tradition of getting together each year for a whole weekend at one of our houses. Cousins are the best! My own girls have a different situation with their cousins as they are the oldest two and the cousins are much younger, but they love getting together with my cousins' children!!
