The other night Simon asked me for a pen and some paper.
This is what he drew.
Not tracing.
Looking at a picture and then drawing it.
You better believe there was a whole lot of “Simon, that is so awesome.”
I think someone might need his own sketchbook.

That’s wonderful!! My oldest (11) is on the spectrum and art/drawing is his weakness. I call him my Mr. Spock
Art to him is not logical and will do it in school because he HAS to. He’d rather break apart a computer. To see Simon draw like that, you probably had some big fat tears! My middle son (8) is our artist. Can draw anything, it’s amazing. Me? Well, I can draw a mean stick figure LOL. Way to go Simon!
a little artist! Fabulous!
Oh I can see his drawings in your PL in the coming weeks!
Great job Simon!
My goodness that’s amazing!
You are one lucky mom
WOW that is so awesome! go simon!!!
Hey, there is a little artist growing! Amazing!
They are fantastic. What a great talent to have discovered. A sketch book for your upcoming travels maybe.
Tell Simon he did great on them!! WAY TO GO SIMON!! Love this for you and for him Ali!!
My Sam has been drawing a little bit more too, he’s a lefty with a crooked thumb so he hates holding pencils for to long.
Great job,Simon
Those are AWESOME!!! What a great job Simon!!!
That is so cool! And great job capturing the photo! Simon has a great mom!
Yep, that is definitely Greg and Rowley!
That boy’s got talent just like his mom!!! Those pictures are totally awesome!
THAT is SO AWESOME!
Go Simon!!
Wow! He inherited some of your artistic ability for sure! It is so great to see him engaged in his own project and doing a great job too.
It’s clear that creativity is in no short supply at your house. Way to go Simon!
wonderful, just wonderful.
That is amazing, what a great addition to week in the life.
Wow, incredible! You go Simon!
Hi
Ali, It is a wonder to me to watch our children grow and become, well… themselves, with all these surprise talents popping up along the way. Life is Good! (wonder where I have heard that before?)
Awesome Simon!
Simon, you are awesome!
I can honestly say one of the best gifts I *ever* received when I was growing up was a big pad of plain white paper. I still have it – and because I saved it for “special” drawings, it’s still got some paper left blank in it. That is awesome, Simon. Way awesome.
I’d love to send Simon a sketchbook and some pencils but I understand from a privacy point of view you may not want to share your address. I’ve followed you, your career and family for a long time and I just feel like I’d like to give back a little for all you do. Email me at laew@aol.com if you’re comfortable with the offer – will understand if you’re not.
I see a budding artist…awesome! See, the apple never falls far from the tree! God Bless!
Absolutely does he need his own sketch pad…awesome SIMON:)
This is such a great thing. The same thing happened to my 10 year old about 6 months age. He stared drawing by looking at pictures and it really helps him occupy himself. If you can read and draw–you can always keep yourself
Another AWESOME here!! Really awesome!
Great drawings!
very awesome!!! his natural ability is starting to come out – to shine!
This is very cool! Definitely needs a sketchbook and maybe some colored pencils!
I love that he looks so happy doing it! I bet you have just begun this journey of masterpieces
Fantastic! Will you frame them?
My 7 yr old LOVES Diary of a Whimpy Kid too.
GO Simon GO for sure!
SO amazing, Simon! I love Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Clearly has great taste and much talent, that boy of yours. Of course, look at his role model–the very talented Ali E.
Wow! That is amazing and very cool. What a great little artist you have there!!!
Do you have this Diary of a Whimpy Kid book: http://www.amazon.com/Wimpy-Do-It-Yourself-revised-expanded-Diary/dp/0810989956/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1332336459&sr=1-6
It’s an interactive, do-it-yourself book. My youngest (now 11) just loved it when we got it for him a couple years ago.
Go Simon!
this is so fantastic; i’m still getting over that little lego video…how cool! this is an area of frustration for my son who is somewhat disinterested and very upset when he can’t draw things perfectly – trying to break that need for perfection… enjoy, Simon! Great job!
Simon your drawings are wonderful! Thanks for sharing them.
Awesome! I have three talented daughters when it comes to drawing, me not so much! I love reading about Simon’s accomplishments!
The secrets that each of us holds, waiting to be reviled! A new artist has been born!!
Wow! Simon, love your drawings. This is only the beginning. Great job.
simon, you are an awesome kid. you can be an artist and/or a film director. way to go buddy!
they look like from “the skimpy kid”!!! well done!
Some really great things for Simon have been happening. So happy for both of you. Awesome.
Holy Cow! Those look just like the illustartions in the book!! Way to go Simon!
