Ways to get over blahness.

Had a blah morning. Working on stuff and feeling overwhelmed and uninspired. Ever feel that way before?

So to get myself out of my funk I tried the following:

1. Get out of the house. Ran some errands (like dropping off my clothes to Goodwill). Went to Target. Looking for something to store Simon's toys in that is more like a piece of furniture (but that is cheap) - didn't find anything. Went to the grocery store and bought OJ, veggies, the usual and some magazines (those tend to put me in a better mood). Sometimes just getting out and in the car can make me feel better. Felt a little better.

2. Check the mail. Came home from errands and found an Amazon box with Visual Chronicles and The Good Life inside. Also a trial order from Snapfish. A couple bills. An order of paper from Scrapworks. Feeling a little surge of betterness. Checking the mail is risky if you are already blah...it could get worse if it is not a good mail day. I was lucky today.

3. Eat lunch. Sometimes I am blah because I have not eaten recently. Ate leftover pizza. Did not make me feel better.

4. Answer emails. I am hopelessly behind. Maybe powering through will improve my mood. Nope. But got a few more answered.

5. Take a shower. Ok, most people do this in the morning. Working at home can mean it is a whole different story. This could be part of my blah problem. Took a shower and blew-dry my hair. Feeling much better after that...

So now I am off to pick up Simon. He has a tendency to shake me out of blah-dom as well. Going to stop at Starbucks on the way over for a tea.

I was going pretty good today after having 2 kids home sick one with the flu and the other with a bad cough and cold. At 2pm it hit me...Tired and a massive headache. I did get my new CK magazine in the mail today but saving it for our ride up to Toronto for the weekend. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. I know what you mean about just getting out helps, getting another view. lately I find myself buying fresh flowers to brighten my spirit and mood.

Monday's and funk's ....why do these two go together so well?
    It is horrid.
    But does not last.
    Have a great Tuesday :-)

My Sunday Blah turned into Monday Blah just like that... still sitting at my desk, looking at my stash, and feeling completely uninspired. I decided to reorganize my letter stickers ... I'm that desperate!
here's hoping for a great Tuesday!

Getting the kids toys organised and put away helps a little with the blahness! Check out the Expedit at Ikea - I've got one for my kids toys and books and its great. They've been rediscovering all their old toys again, now they can see them and having the books at the right level is like having their own little library. Donna Downey just got one recently (check it out on her blog on 1st March) for her scrap stuff (which looks way cooler than toys!). Hope that helps!

    ali,
regarding cheap toy storage- try ikea. i bought these funky, cheap, fake little treasure box style toy boxes for my 10 month old baby. one to store his toys, the other to store his diapers. they are made of some kind of material, but are a lot sturdier than they look. i highly recommend them if you are looking for cheap, fun & functional toy storage. they are sturdy enough to stack. they cost $12.99. here is the url: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10103&storeId=12&langId=-1&productId=53167
if the url doesn't work, go to the ikea website and type in the search field: "minnen toy box." p.s. have a better day tomorrow!

yeah, the blahs have struck here too. I was looking for work to do so I wouldn't have to face my art supplies, that's how NOT creative I'm feeling. Went to bed early, now it's a new day. Still feel blah, but am going skiing this morning, then on to Town Meeting (VT tradition). Hopefully either the early exercise or watching people haggle over the budget will help. (and maybe some chocolate...)

    oh it is so nice to know you are NORMAL!!!! the more I read your blog the more i realized you are just like many of us.. You always come acrossed as being "super" in your own right.. like your creative juice is your power. I am feeling your blahdom - and it's a feeling that I feel on a daily basis. Sad but true. Coffee usually gets me out of it somewhat - the shower definately!! keep on truck'n. 15 minute intervals - and you will be surprised. {flylady will instruct you. www.flylady.com}
hang in there and know one thing.
What you do in your daily life may seem blah and uninspiring to you, but gives incredible inspiration and encouragement to many others.. take a deep breath, stretch, and just be.
    Have a good day!!

    Hope you're feeling more inspired.
I saw one of those cubicle shelf type things at Target for $39. The type of thing that everyone is getting at IKEA. Then you could use those pull out cube baskets or cloth tubs. KWIM?
I did something like that for my son. I had plastic tubs on a shelf. I placed a picture on the outside of the tub of what went inside. Blocks, Dinosaurs, Cars, etc.... This was a simple way for him to be able to find his toys easily and put them away quickly. Good Luck.
