Happy Friday.

Apron

One of my favorite quotes for this Friday afternoon:

To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury; and
refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable; and
wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await
occasion, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.

William Henry
Channing

I have a document with most of the quotes that you post... they all seem to get me in some way!
I LOVE the picture, especially the apron! Mind if I ask where you found it? I'm hoping you don't say Goodwill, but applaud you if you did!
    Have a fabulous weekend!

That's a heavy quote- a lot to think about and a lot to live up to. I love it though.

Hey Ali! I LOVE this quote, too, and what's really funny is after buying your second book, I did an Ali-inspired LO using this quote, because it reminded me of you. It even was featured at CK online! Woohoo! Just goes to show a little Ali goes a LONG way!!!

great apron, great quote...I think that it could make a neat quilt. I hope that you are just wearing that apron around to be cool...because it is. Also I am not sure if you listen to the Creative Mom podcast....BUT she was talking about you and your little word...I thought that it was good stuff and it was Episode #81--listened to it as I worked out today...good stuff. Happy Friday!

Too ironic that I had printed that very quote months ago...and in my sorting today, found it, trimmed it, and put it up on my 'inspiration wall'. LOVE it. Thanks, Ali, for being so uniquely you & fabulous.

Happy Saturday!! Thanks so much for all your blog brings to the rest of us! Unfortunately - last year I was "late" to find your calendar and missed out. I was so excited to see the one for 2008. At some point a couple of months ago you mentioned it was in the works. Now that it's January - did you decide to not release a 2008 calendar? I've been to your Cafe Press store and haven't seen anything.
    THANKS!

    Wow about the quote.
My wonderful boyfriend really lives his life along these lines in many ways... and I have started (early I know) on a little hardback miniBook for Valentines (wooden letters painted red and glued onto the book and letters topped with Glossy Accents). This quote is going in it!
Thanks for finding that one, it's a one for the bulletin board for sure.

What a fun picture, Ali! I love the quote, too. However, I believe it is mis-attributed. As I understand it, "My Symphony" was penned by William Henry Channing, who was actually a nephew of William Elllery Channing. Either way, the poem is quite thought-provoking.
