Thinking About Christmas
I've been doing a little holiday planning/shopping the last few weeks and wanted to share a few of the things I've found and ordered for the kids this year.
- First up is a personalized My Very Merry Christmas Board Book (illustrated by my friend Mati Rose and shown above). This came in the mail yesterday and it's just perfect - Anna will love that it has her name and she's included in the story.
-
Personalized pencils. These showed up one year in Simon's Easter basket and it's time for a new set. He's been doing his homework with them for quite a few years now. One set for Simon, one for Anna and one for each of the cousins. - Books to add to our Christmas collection. Richard Scarry's The Animal's Merry Christmas, Babar And Father Christmas and A Ghost Tale For Christmas Time (Magic Treehouse).
I started a Pinterest board where I'm adding things I'm thinking about (or just dreaming of) for the kids. I love that I can have that all in one place. You'll see a few things I mentioned above pinned there already.
For some of the adults I've been hecking out Amazon's 100 Best Books of 2011 list.
Are you working on this kind of stuff too?
I don't usually pull my Christmas stuff out until after Thanksgiving but I'm thinking about getting it out and going through some of it in advance. I always think at the end of the season I'll be really good about putting away only the stuff we really want but I often find myself just wanting the job to be done. Wanting the job to just be done results in extra stuff getting stored (or lights that don't work) that we might have been able to let go of last year.
Oh, PS - places I find books: NYT Book Review; NPR Review of Books; www.delanceyplace.com (nonfiction); Barnes & Noble Holiday Catalogue; Writer's Almanac.

I got a promo card when purchasing an ecraft. It is an 20%off code off paper from Paper Layerz or CutMates. I have no use for the coupon so i was hoping someone else can use it. The promo code is eCraft11.

Ali,
I've tried your email again but it keeps coming back "can't send to sender" whatever that means. So I guess maybe that's a sign or something. Thanks though.
Got your emails Dawn and responded. Not sure why it's giving you that message.

We love books at Christmas. Our favorite is Twas' the Night Before Christmas. Another one we like is Bear Stays up for Christmas by Karma Wilson. Love the Take Along School. I wash my daughter was a little younger I would get it for her.

I've been following Simon (and you too) for awhile on your blog. I like it that your kid is a lot like my kid. Wink Wink. Perfect.
Could you send me a Pinterest invite to jillpriceJAP@gmail.com?
Thanks so much!
Done Jill :)

I love the book idea! And I just went to order your friend's board book and she is out of stock, bummer!! I'll keep checking on that. Cody, the Elf on the Shelf, showed up this morning, so I am getting ready to get the decorations down...my husband won't help me at all any more because I am too particular about how things should be, and he vehemently refuses to pick up the first ornament now. Kind of depressing to do it all myself now, so be warned! Anyway, I am trying December Daily for the first time this year, wish me luck! And time!!!!
