Studio AE From Technique Tuesday | April 2012 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Studio AE for Technique Tuesday April Blog Hop.

April's stamp set is called "Hello Routine."

For the digital memory keepers out there these sentiments are available (without the circles) at Designer Digitals: Embracing The Everyday

Here's a look at my completed layout:

This 2-page layout started out with a full-page 8.5x11 photo printed on my Epson R2000. It's a recent one that I love - just an everyday shot of Anna standing on a dining room chair, a skirt under her dress, building really tall lego towers.

I also wanted to use some of the new Hambly overlays so I decided to use that as the background as a companion page for the photo. My guess is that I will be overusing that Herringbone Overlay. NOTE: Looks like Two Peas has all the new Hambly in stock here.

Step one in the creative process was embossing the stamps with Versamark and Zing Silver Metallic Finish powder. Here's what it looks like with just the powder:

And once it was "cooked" with the heat gun:

Then I used scissors to cut out the circle, using the edge as my guide.

Next up I used my Silhouette to cut out a couple Memory Circles. For information on how to use PNG files with the Silhouette I've got a tutorial here.

Along the edge is a handcut piece of pattern paper from American Crafts called Greenery Atrium.

Behind the large circle is a piece of 6x6 pattern paper from My Minds Eye Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks.

I played around a bit before figuring out how I wanted to place all the elements.

I ended up adding a couple elements from the Cosmo Cricket 23 Collection Ready Set Chipboard (arrow + 2 x's).

The "A" is from an Educational Insights alphabet set and the "3" is from an older Studio Calico number stamp set. I stamped and embossed and then hand-cut around the A and the 3 before adhering it with foam dots.

I went back and forth a bit about whether to put this page on top of a piece of white cardstock but just decided that when I place it in the album I will find another layout with a white background to go behind it.

I used a white Sharpie Poster Paint Pen to draw a couple freehand circles around the accents on the second page. It was a nice way to repeat the circles from the first page.

The little decorative brad is from My Minds Eye Miss Caroline Like Brads.

I'm loving how this one turned out.

While I was working on my layout I also used the stamps to make a couple quick journal cards for Project Life using ColorBox chalk inks:

Love it! She'll have something to look back at and remember. They grow up so fast, don't they? Who says everyday life is boring! Not when we can create, eh?
