One Little Word® 2015 | The Reading Of The Words
I want to take a minute to thank everyone who added their word to the comments in my last One Little Word® post. I read through every single one and I love reading about your own personal reasons why.
I invited Liz Lamoreux to read the word list again this year for your listening enjoyment. Here you go:
Click to listen to Liz read the words.
There is absolutely still time to join the One Little Word® workshop if you are interested in making your word visible this year and sharing the journey with others.

If your word doesn't appear above and you'd like it added I'm happy to edit the list.
Beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to list them, and to Liz for reading them. And thanks also for being so welcoming and kind within your posts, prompts, handouts and videos. I really appreciate that. Michelle t

I've chosen Geography. I first met this word 10 years ago while studying for my exam to become a teacher. I was working on Elizabeth Bishop's book Geography III. It was difficult to understand the meaning emerging from all the letters, the signs. I let it go at that time (I was too far away from myself) but it came back to me last December when thinking about a word and I think I understand better: her work is an attempt to make sense of the things behind, of your hidden self. I want to map the "inside of myself". I chose Geography.

My word is ribbistrate. You won't find it in the dictionary. My friend made it up. It is a verb and it means to jump with joy. I think it comes from the slang term in baseball, to hit in all the runners (ribbies) and the word monstare which means to show. To show the joy of hitting everyone home. I love a word that will evolve.
Love.

I dove right into the class and totally forgot to leave a comment but was happy to see my word MAKE on the list. Originally I had picked LESS because I am so ready to have less, spend less, live with less, less clutter, less projects, less stress etc. but when I looked it up it felt so negative. So I just made a list with words that resonated with me and the second one was MAKE: make things happen, make room, make room to breathe, make things, scarves, snowflakes, make nutritious meals, make progress, make less, make more, make me happy, make my family happy, make connections ... I could go on and on. Some things might not make sense to anybody but me, but just typing these things make me realize how fitting it is. Thank you for being such a great inspiration every day. Birgit
Hi Hesse-Birgit,
I chose MAKE also! It isn't the most poetic of words, but I find that it propels me into action: to make connections, make time, make nourishing meals, make beautiful things...I look forward to seeing where it takes us!
All best,
Cortney

I can't believe I forgot to put my word on the last post! My word is REACH. Not the destination, but the movement. The action. I'm reaching for more.
Glad you commented here, Nicole. My word was originally STRETCH but I decided to change it to REACH and that one wasn't on the list yet! :)

I am going to listen to Liz read the words on my way home from work, as I can't do it at this moment. But I LOVE seeing the list and reading through them. Of course, it's very motivating to see my word listed (Choose)! Thanks for all you do with this project Ali! I am really, super excited about it this year!

Interesting to listen to the words, to actually HEAR them and the little nods and smiles that came to me with certain words that resonated with me. Looking forward to the journey. After all, my word IS explore. :)

Ok...don't laugh...and please don't judge or be offended...my word is BAD@$$...
My 12 yr old said "Oh sure Mom...pick a word I cannot even say". To which I said "used in context there will be no punishment". When I see what my Mom has faced and defeated, with pride I say "My Mom is a bad@$$". You have to be tough to face adversity and be better than you were before.
My word is to remind me that I have a choice. I can stand up for myself and not show fear, or I can hide and let it pass. I considered using FEAR as my word (Face Everything And Rise), but though it meant something to me, the negative connotation it presented at face value was not what I wanted for my first OLW adventure.
My best friend brought me on this OLW journey, and I cannot wait to enjoy it!
Hugs-
Amy
I think it rocks.
I do too!

I'm running really slow, but my word is PEACE. My world keeps getting crazier so I really need to find some Peace in my life. Hoping to finish 2014 OLW and begin 2015 OLW book soon.
I'm still finishing 2014, too, and my word is also peace!

Loved seeing everyone's words. This year, mine is Confidence and my besties is Determined. Somehow seeing that those hadn't made the list yet made them feel even more personal and "right". Thanks for OLW!

I just decided on my word yesterday:EVOLVE. My hope for the year is to make some positive progress toward reaching goals in creative, health and other life areas that I've been working on over the past few years. Emerge, expand, grow and unfold are synonyms and they all resonate with me. Looking forward to the process!

This years word appeared a few months ago and then went out of my head until last week: it seemed strange at first, and simple, but it definitely fits: New. I was surprised to NOT see it on the list yet!
My first baby girl is a senior this year, graduating, and heading off to college - OH MY GOSH is THAT ever New! She was so excited when she realized "It is 2015! THIS is the year I graduate!" That is also new - even a year ago she was not so sure about going AWAY to school, much less leaving highschool or home at all... sigh.
I am getting a new Kitchen (gutting it, 1933 built in cabinets) and an 85% new bathroom. The construction phase will also be new... It will be done before graduation, hopefully before prom so the same group of girls can get ready here one last time.
I have joined the Biggest Loser challenge at my gym. These last 20 "Mommy" pounds being gone will certainly make me new!
Only having 2 children at home next fall will be New... I love the organic way these words seem to come about and highlight the positives of the coming celebrations and challenges!

I too missed where to put my word. I chose HEALTH. In all areas. Physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and financial. It's a big commitment but one I'm determined to work on.
