Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. We’d like to take a moment to remember the sorrow of that day but also honor the dedication, commitment and strength of the first responders who selflessly sacrificed their lives for strangers. Thank you Ali. Our community recently received the traveling wall, which will be here all next week at our local Veterans Park. I will be visiting and taking lots of photos so your free design will work perfectly.
It's hard to believe it's been 20 years, but for others I'm sure it seems like a lifetime ago. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families. Such a tragedy. I still remember what I was doing at the time the news first hit and we were all sent home from work. I was glued to the TV in disbelief; there was so much destruction and loss of life that was so heartbreaking, while so many others pulled together to help one another.
Working in a government building was a scary time with all the bomb threats that went on afterwards, but we persevered and I pray we never go through anything like this again.
