Cool place.
Totally cool place this city called Tokyo. Here is the view from our room:
Getting ready for classes this morning (Friday morning here right now). Spent the day yesterday in Nikko - beauiful shines and a temple up in the mountains a couple hours outside of Tokyo. Awesome to get to experience something so old and cool.
There are SO MANY people here in this city. Continually amazed by the sea of people moving from here to there. Never-ending. And the lights and the quiet. This place is so quiet for the sheer number of people. And the city goes on forever.
So glad you made it there safe and sound, Miss Ali! Can't wait to see and hear more about your experiences in Toyko!!

So cool! Thanks for posting this. I hope to get to Tokyo someday. Don't forget to take a blank book or journal to the various temples and shrines and stamp in them. In "A Year in Japan", the author says they're also available at practically every public place: museums, train stations, and such. Each place usually has a stamping station set up in a corner, with an inkpad and blank sheets of paper. Really cool!

At the risk of sounding untraveled (?) (when in fact, I am, so it would be true)...why is it so quiet? It looks as though it would be so noisy with everything being so congested.

"Can you keep a secret? I'm trying to organize a prison break. We have to first get out of this bar, then the hotel, then the city, and then the country. Are you in or you out?" =)

I'm a tad jealous that you get to do so much traveling! What a great view!

You know, you're right. It is quiet there. Especially when you go into the department stores. It's like library-quiet in there. Go to the market places though, those places get buzzing. :)

Moshi moshi.. Ali.. seeing as you're in the land of the rising sun.. I thought I'd post you my link to your Creative Confidence challenge since it's already Friday in Japan.. :)

I'm wholly inspired by this week's challenge and decided to go a step further by doing something I'd never done before - 8x8 size picture of me (I've never been brave read: confident enough to feature myself close-up like this) and then journal (in pink, no less) on the photo...
Hope you're (somewhat) impressed *wink* I'm looking forward to seeing yours..
And thank you for challenging us to step out of our box, and to embrace our creativity and effectively, our own precious selves.
Have a wonderful stay in Japan! hugs..

Ali-
Have fun in Tokyo. It's an amazing place. If you have time, there is an unbelievable kid's toy store called Kiddieland. It's located in Harajuku and is 5 floors of cool toys, Japanese stationery, etc. Really fun and worth it if you have time!

Ok, one more thing (can you tell I'm excited you are there--so much fun!)--I've been to Tokyo a quite a few times and my favorite place to eat (and not expensive) is a noodle house called Ippudo. Has the most amazing Ramen noodles and gyoza (and ice cold Ebisu beer if you are so inclined). It's located in the Ebisu part of Tokyo--specifically, Hiroo 1-3-13. [along Meiji-dori towards Hiroo, just past the post office] It's open until 4am! A fun, local and yummy experience.
