AEzine Challenge: Stamp Goodness

Stampvisual

This week the challenge is to embrace that wonderful imperfection inherent in using stamps. Sound like a big challenge? It is. If you are like me, sometimes it has to be laid out right in front of you for it to have any impact.

Here's a little more direction: create a layout that uses at least three different stamps - one geometric, one text, and one organic (swirl, artsy, etc.). If you make a mistake, work with it or leave it. Chances are, no one will ever notice except you - everyone else will see it as a totally cool artsy use of stamps. Embrace that!

Here's what I came up with:

Stamplayout

I also wanted to show a little step by step on how I created the stamp clusters.

1. Select a couple stamps to play with for this project. Lines are from Fontwerks. Priceless and "A fun time was had by all" are from River City Rubber Works. You Are Here (which I didn't end up using this time) is from Stampers Anonymous. Siwrls are from Autumn Leaves. "What Made You Laugh Today" (not used)and the circle "Notes from Today" are all from Catslife Press.

Step2

2. Grab a scrap piece of thick patterned paper from your scrap box and use a large square punch to create three areas for your stamping.

Step1

3. Place the stencil you made with the square punch down onto your cardstock. Play with creating clusters of color and stamps within the squares. Inks used here are all Colorbox Fluid Chalk Cat's Eye Queues (love how these are stacked on top of one another).

Step3

Looking forward to seeing your creations with stamps!

Here's mine. I didn't like it at first but it's grown on me - Best of ALL I used that crowd stamp I bought several years ago and it's been in the stamp cupboard since it came home.

this challenge had me reassessing my stamps and they came up lacking I'm afraid, but between a stampin up party and a stamp shopping spree I order some stamps by Tia Bennett, Katie Pertiet, Nisa Fiin, Kate Teague and Karen Russell.
I just loved what you did with the template, I played around with it and it was great fun, I'm going to keep that in mind for when my new stamps arrive!

OK I gave it a whirl....on a different note. I don't have all those coolio stamps so I just sort of "went" with it instead. Here is my 'version' of it.....

Loved this challenge, really needed to get some use out my stamps. They may look pretty in their packages, but they look even better on paper.
