Silly boys.

One of the things we love about our new place is the long hallway with a step down to our bedroom. Great for setting up our own style of "bowling." Easy to play: set up a bunch of soft blocks (we build a "castle") and roll or kick a big ball to knock over the castle. Lots of laughs and giggles result. Good times.

Some of you have asked me about the Hopi quote over on the left. A very nice reader sent that to me last week - what you see there is the only info she gave on where it came from. If anyone knows more about it - such as the date, etc. - could you pass it along to me? It is an awesome quote and I would love to know more. EDITED: Thanks Sharla - here is a link to the quote: quote information.

Working for a bit today before heading up to Salem (as long as the weather cooperates - freezing rain/snow right now) for a reception with the Governor (and Chris of course). Should be a small gathering - looking forward to the opportunity to speak with him in a small group setting (or just listen).

    Simon might like this...
Do you have a scooter board?
If so, see if he will propel himself
on the scooter into the castle.
A great number of children like
the impact and "pressure" as they
    CRASH into the soft blocks....
Also, did you know that sitting on the
ball raises the ability of a person to focus from the 20th percentile to the 90th? Study
from the American Journal of Occupational Therapy (particularly for children with ADHD) but we are finding it helps many many more including adults!
    Enjoy the day!

We use our long hallway to practice our runway walks after watching America's Next Top Model... of course, my house is full of girls!

I really enoy the Hopi quote. My son spent his first year of college at St. John's College in Santa Fe where the nurse practitioner for the school LIVED on campus -- her husband was a judge for the Hopi and rode the circuit. It was sorta nice to have that reminder (my son transferred to the Annapolis campus and has stayed out east -- closer to us), especially since my son has gotten very interested in autism and encryption -- the former another tie to Ali -- weird almost! :)

The quote from the Hopi Nation is actually from the Hopi Elders and it was from New Year's of 2000. It is a beautiful quote. I have had it on my wall for 7 years now. This is the version I have:
    To my fellow swimmers:
There is a river now flowing very fast.
It is so great and swift
And there are those who will be afraid.
They will try to hold on to the shore.
They will feel that they are being torn apart
    and will suffer greatly.
Know that the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore.
Push off into the middle of the river.
Keep our eyes open and our heads above water.
    And I say,
See who is in there with you and celebrate!
At this time in history we are to take nothing personally.
Least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do,
Our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over.
    Gather yourselves!
Banish the word “struggle” from your attitude and vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner
    And in celebration.
We are the ones we have been waiting for.
