Hello from Virginia.

Dc1

Flew into Washington DC this afternoon to meet Marirosa & Ashlie for the Get Croppin event this weekend. I am here to teach with Danelle, Margie, and Donna (pictured in photo above). So cool to be here with these ladies. Love the chance to hang out and chat and play.

And PLAY we will. Tomorrow morning, bright and early, we are going on a tour of the White House.

Yes, THE White House.

I am so excited I can hardly stand it. When I was here last year I got to go to the Washington Monument and see the White House - this year I am going in. This is kinda like Disneyland for me.

I wonder if I will be able to sleep?

I am sure I will have some good stories later in the day tomorrow.

And, amazing - once again you guys are so awesome. Over 100 of you have made donations...which met the Monday goal of 100...so now we need a new GOAL. Give me a day to come up with a new number to shoot for...thank you again for your wonderful support.

My claim to fame is vomiting in the street right in front of the White House when I was in 5th grade! We were waiting in line to tour the inside and I guess I was car sick. Not everyone can say they did THAT though! Hope YOU don't. :-)

    What a blast!
Keep an eye on that Donna D. Don't let her near the presidential furniture! She just might whip out her craft drill and start altering...

    Hi Ali,
This is a bit off-topic to this post, but on-topic to life. The teacher in me found it fascinating and wanted to share.
Today on WI Public Radio one of the shows was incredibly interesting and focused on Autism. The guest was Roy Richard Grinker. He is an anthropologist, father of an autistic teen, and wrote “Unstrange Minds: Remapping the World of Autism.” He talks about personal experiences and experiences researching autism all over the world. If you're interested the webcast is archived here: http://wpr.org/webcasting/audioarchives_display.cfm?Code=dun and the show was 2/8E (10am and 10pm). You always seem to be soaking up all you can regarding this subject, so I thought I'd pass it along. :)
Also just heard today in the news that a new CDC study of 14 states has Autism numbers at 1 in 150 - but further study will be done to see if that number remains constant.
Have a safe and enjoyable time in DC! I am sure your pictures will be amazing - I always enjoy them.

That's totally cool that you get to go to the White House. I've been outside it several times. My dad was an auditor and work at Ft. Knox. The govt. would send him on trainings to Washington D.C. and he would bring us along. During the day we'd do cool stuff with my mom, and during the evening we would go to the monuments and such with my dad. Have an awesome time!

Have an awesome day - and dress warmly; at least it's just cold and not snowy like last year!
Looking forward to seeing you again tomorrow evening and spending the weekend w/you talented gals.

You are gonna LOVE the White House! Rich with history and the possibility of SIGHTINGS! When I was there, some people in our group saw Colin Powell and George HW Bush. I was too busy paying attention to the tour guide!

    Hey Ali...
I've been watchin the numbers on the Autism donations rise a heck of a lot faster than the temps here in MN. I bet you could shoot for 353 by Monday! It's the weekend..it's payday for most people..there needs to be more awareness of Autism and it's awesome how all of us scrappers stick together like FAMILY! Blood is thicker than water..let's reach 353 by Monday! I"m in!!! Have fun in Washington. I would love to get there some day. It's on our list of must see places with our kids. have fun PLAYING all wknd w/new scrappy friends too.
