So fun. I decided to jump in this morning after reading your post. I've had your badge on my blog, but no one goes there - tee hee. So I sent out a message to everyone on my personal and my work email list. I even sent them the address to my blog. It felt very out there, but I got some great response. I think some of them even donated today.
Thanks for your leadership!!
Ali. Whenever I need a pick me up, or a reminder that creative types can in fact make a living from what they were born to do - I tune in to your blog. To me, you are a constant reminder that anything is possible. Your success as a fundraiser serves as further inspiration. Life artist indeed!
Amazing Ali. That is you! :) Your son is so blessed to have you as his mother. I hope you are documenting all this, as it will be wonderful looking back on it someday. You & your family are making a great impact on the world in so many ways. Thanks for the wonderful example you are showing us!
YAHOO!!!! How cool is it that the person he mentioned is...you! You do great work - all around. Chris and Simon and all your "friends" are proud of ya!
I was just watching Ellen (from earlier today) and I heard Kevin Bacon mention 'someone from Oregon....'. I knew EXACTLY who he was talking about. What a great concept - Kudos to all of you...
Now, if only they could open it up to Canadian Residents!
Ali,
I just wanted to say that I am really proud of you. I know that doesn't make much sense since I am not your mother, aunt, sister, or even a close friend but I am proud that I believe you made a conscious choice to help a cause that is close to your heart. Yes for Simon, but I also know it is for everyone touched by autism.
It was genuine and heartfelt and I am proud of you and proud to know you.
Tammy
Ali, I enjoy your blog and newsletter and to support your cause I've made a $20 donation. Thanks for providing creative inspiration in my life via the web.
H'cow! I had to check again - we are only 6 shy of 600 - this is amazing! Big applause for Ali and pat on the shoulder for all of us, as well as our friends and families who have also donated! Let's keep it going...!
tears. there are tears streaming down my face. a woman in oregon. wow. if he only knew what an inspiration you are to all, not only through your never ending fight for simon and those affected with autism... but it's your daily inspirations. the inspirations to help us to look deeper. listen more closely. watch more intently. to life. to create with reckless abandon. i have become a better artist because of you. your WORD for this year needs to be ASTOUNDING. you are an astounding woman, Ali E.. and I hope to someday get to really meet you. keep going... you're rockin this SIX DEGREES LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS!!!
One of my favorite movies of all time is Pay It Forward. I love the simple concept that one person can make a difference in the lives of others and so on and so on. It brings tears to my eyes to see the many ways that scrapbookers make the Pay It Forward concept come to life. We as scrapbookers believe in life at a deeper level, at an examined and preserved level and we interact with others that believe the same at that level. Once at that level, how can you not care about the heart causes of those you interact with. This plea for action that you and others have made so strongly, reaching thousands and millions of strong, smart and loving women and men all over the world is what is going to turn this planet around.
Scrapbookers, and the way they reach out to others gives me hope in a future for mankind. We CAN make a difference!
I FINALLY DID IT! I COPIED YOUR BLOG LINK AND THE LINK TO SIX DEGREES AND SENT AN EMAIL OUT TO ABOUT 30 OF OUR FRIENDS. I AM REALLY HOPING THAT THEY LISTEN TO MY MESSAGE ABOUT WHAT A DIFFERENCE A $10 DONATION CAN MAKE AND HOW IT'S NOT THE MONEY AT SIX DEGREES BUT THE # OF PEOPLE WE GET THE ATTENTION OF!! WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT I KNOW MY FRIEND EASILY SPEND $10 ON LUNCH, A COUPLE OF BEERS, SOME EVEN A COUPLE PACKS OF CIGARETTES, SO HOW ABOUT LIVE HEALTHIER, HELP OTHERS LIVE HEALTHY AND DONATE THAT $10.
SUCH AN EASY CONCEPT! GOOD LUCK ALI. GO SIMON GO SIMON GO SIMON!! WE'RE PULLIN' FOR YA HERE AT THAT VANGUILDER HOUSE IN MN!!!
That is so cool!!! Way to go with the donations and celebrity status in honor of Simon -- something to proud of, for sure!!! You are such an inspiration in so many ways. Thank you. -- Tricia
You're getting SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO close to being the number 1 badge!!!!!! You rock Ali Edwards... you rock for all the kids out there who are stuck inside the box and can't communicate how it feels in there.
