a technical question

Does anyone know how you can share a calendar between a mac + a pc? Is there a certain program that will do that? Ideally we would like it to be able to sync automatically when either Chris or I add something new. Right now I run iCal between my computers, but Chris is working on a pc.

Suggestions?

I agree with many others. Google calendar is wonderful! Both you and Chris can update it, and you can use different colors for each person's schedule and for different types of events. And it's free!

If you decide to go with outlook, the Mac version e-mail/calendaring program is called entourage. I use it at work as one of the few mac people, and it works for the most part. Entourage does not have all of the calendaring features that your husband would on outlook but it seems to work out ok.

I use missing sync, just like Maria. iCal will sync with your palm too, if you have one.

Big fan of Google's calendar here. You can label different categories by color. It makes it super easy to keep organized. Good luck!

I really like Airset, you can find it online. It syncs with Outlook and Palm desk and I think you can get the calendar sent to your cell phone to. Super easy, too!

I like Airset, too. We've been using it about a month and it's really working well for us. I've even got my oldest using it.

I think your best bet would be Google Calendar. At the hospital where I work, everyone prefers a different computer, but in Google Calendar, everything is saved on the internet, so there is no problem with the different operating systems, plus you can share this calendar with your family, friends, and co-workers. We use it for our family and each one of our 5 kids (We like to color code each one)

Google Calendar will let you share . . . but you clearly know that already. Airset.com is another free service that seem popular among fellow parents. The advantage of using an online calendar is you can access it from anywhere! Good luck!

Cam installed a program called "cross over" on my mac. Allows me to work in the mac OS but still make use of PC programs like messaging with hello and stuff. If you want to know more about this option shoot me an email and I'll get him to respond to you with his tech guy info LOL!

Google Calendar syncs with your Mac calendar using http://www.spanningsync.com/. I just set this up for our family this week for the exact same reason you posted. Both my husband and I access Google Calendar at work (and he on his home Windows machine also) and we can add/change appointments etc and everything we do to it is synced (sunc?) with iCal on the Mac by the time we get home. Love love LOVE it :) It costs $25 for a year or $65 for lifetime license...well worth it!

I really like the calendar site www.30boxes.com. I run Mac, too. I like 30boxes even more than iCal. It's free and has a lot of options for sharing and linking.

When I was using my Palm Treo, I was able to sync between the Apple and PC using the iSync. It's already on your Apple so maybe that will work. I've only had the Mac for a couple of months though so I'm not sure if it will work. It's worth a try though.

google calender! another vote. My old job used it all the time so that people could check vacation availability.
Don't forget you can also share spreadsheets and word documents in google too, and you can even collaborate together.
The thing is-- everyone has to have a Gmail account.

Hey Ali, You could publish your iCal calendar, but I don't think Chris could add to it. One way might be to set up one of the Groups on .Mac. I think everyone can add to a calendar on those.
Chris should just get a mac!!!

Try the calendar on yahoo.com . You can invite another person to be able to see your calendar. Your appointments are then shown in a different colour on the other person's calendar.
