December Daily Album : Day Two
Had one of those really simple days. It is super stormy (rain + wind) which lends itself well to getting cozy on the couch, reading the paper, watching movies, eating popcorn, and doing a bit of baking in between (coffee cake muffin recipe from Cottage Living magazine). And a big, long nap. Can't forget the nap.
I can't think of anything better on a rainy day than coffee cake muffins. Yum! :)
Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I can't wait for toddlerhood to pass so my little one can be better at having mellow days like this!

Yummo. Add a cup of coffe and call it dinner. Love the photo. Awesome perspective and dof.

You've just described my perfect day. I'm so glad humanity no longer has to hide from the rain in caves that smell like damp buffalo. Hooray for mortgages and ovens! I bet it's hard to bake muffins over a smoky prehistoric fire.

Hi Ali,
I've searched for the coffee cake muffin recipe at the Cottage Living but nothings coming up. Can you please help me by sending a link to the recipe. I love those muffins (I stop at Dunkin Donuts twice a week for one).
Thanks...off to check out more holiday projects.

That sounds divine. Naps are an imperative part of Sunday.

I am loving your daily journal!!
'Wanted to share this w/ you - 'found it online (source listed @ the bottom). I have already printed it out & hung it up in the house... am thinking of having it framed. It really puts things into perspective.
* What Will Matter *
Ready or not,
Someday it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises,
No minutes hours or days.
All the things you collected,
Whether treasured or forgotten,
Will pass to someone else.
Your wealth,
Fame and temporal power
Will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned
Or what you were owed
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations
And jealousies will finally disappear.
So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans
and to-do lists will expire.
The wins and losses
That once seemed so important
Will fade away.
It won’t matter where you came from,
Or on what side of the tracks you lived,
At the end.
It won’t matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant.
Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.
So what will matter?
How will the value of your days be measured?
What will matter is not what you bought,
But what you built;
Not what you got
But what you gave.
What will matter is not your success,
But your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned,
But what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity,
Compassion,
Courage or sacrifice that enriched,
Empowered or encouraged others
To emulate your example.
What will matter is not your competence,
But your character.
What will matter is not how many people you knew,
But how many will feel a lasting loss when you’re gone.
What will matter is not your memories,
But the memories that live in those who loved you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered,
By whom and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s no a matter of circumstance but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters.

Ali,
I love your work. It is so inspiring. I've been in a rut for months now and have trouble getting started on anything due to no where to spread my work out... but your pages and work always make me want to get my pictures out and get to work! I love looking at your stuff. Thank you for being so inspiring!!!
The December Daily album is already amazing!!

Cool photo, Ali.
Looks like a wonderful day!
And if you like coffee cake, try Sarah's Classic Sour Cream Coffee Cake from Martha's website. I would give you the link but unfortunately I'm still declaring 'techno-moron' status!!

Is that a wooden platter?
I just rediscovered my wooden bowl a couple of days ago--the perfect vessel for my christmasy pinecones!
