Tuesday Layout.

[ supplies: cardstock: Bazzill; letter stickers: Making Memories Tiny Alphabet; scallop circle punches: Marvy Uchida Giga + Mega; "notes from today" stamp: Catslife Press; pen: American Crafts; brown patterned paper: from inside a tea box; corner rounder: Marvy Uchida ]

Keeping it simple again with neutral colored cardstock. Brown patterned paper was the inside pattern of a cardboard tea box (found that one in my scrap-mail box I showed yesterday). The overall design is one of my favorite ways to bring a page together: cropped photos with journaling around the outer edge.

The process begins with a bunch of photos from yesterday afternoon (once again, way more photos than needed but so nice for choosing which ones to tell the story):

Iphotosprinkler

I chose one to enlarge and a few others to crop and gather together in Photoshop. To create the gathering I created a new canvas (300 dpi) and cropped my photos so that each one was 3 inches tall. After cropping each one I dragged and dropped them onto the canvas so that I could print them out all at once.

While I was gathering photos I considered making this layout two pages. One page would hold the enlarged photo and the other page would include the cropped photos. After printing and moving things around on the page I decided to go with a single page (as you see above) and journal around the outer edge.

For the scalloped accent on the top photo I used two different sizes of scalloped punches. The larger one was used to punch the shape directly from the photo and the smaller punch was used to create the patterned circle. The smaller scalloped circle is adhered with foam dots to give it some dimension.

And the story? Simon came home from school yesterday very grumpy. He had a tough day following directions (among other things) and really just needed some chill-out time. He had a snack, we chatted about his day, and then it was time to go outside. It has been super hot here so running through the sprinkler sounded like a pretty good option for expending some of his energy. And obviously, he's really into the mask.

I love the layout. Can you direct me to detailed instructions on how to make these photo gatherings. I'd love to do them with my Photoshop elements program. Was this page printed on your HP Photoprinter?

Great theme this week, love it! Somehow this was just what I needed: just make the LO and 'stick' the pictures and the story down. And adding that junkmail item gives it just something extra...
I'm following you in your footsteps here this week, and I'm having the best time by just creating the pages and stop making it al so complicated!

Love it Ali, and I agree with Simon the best way to end a rough day. I think it is tough right now for these little guys, it should be summer already. Brody has had an amazing year-starting grade 1 (he is in a special needs class), but these last few weeks have been killers, following directions - transitions - changing from winter boots to shoes, taking a coat off when it is too hot!!!
Trying to keep it on a positive note so he looks forward to school next year - so close!!!
    Have a great day
    Nicky

How cool is that? LOVE the mask! And what a great blow-off-steam-after-a-tough-day activity.
Your current (in this layout and last week) focus on photos + words really inspired me. I wrote an essay (for the first time since I can't remember when) about attending one of my clients' Challenger baseball games. The game was inspiring, too. Thanks for the encouragement and modeling re taking the time to record the everyday stories--some of life's best moments are in those details.

    Hi Ali,
What size canvas did you use?
After printing the photos, did you cut each one out or simple trim around the "group" of photos?
