Documenting December

Janet's Junk Binder Christmas How-To available in her etsy shop (supply list, instructions, etc). I just got a sample of one of these binders the other day and they are so cool (a great mix of papers, envelopes, etc).

Shimelle's Journal You Christmas Class : this is how I got started a few years back doing something creative to celebrate the holiday season. If you are looking for daily jump-starts and specific prompts this is definitely a highly-recommended class. The difference between Shimelle's class and what I am doing for December Daily is that I am simply documenting the days whereas Shimelle is guiding you through memory and creative prompts each day from December 1 through January 6th. You could definitely combine the two. Another cool thing is that once you sign up you are considered and alumni and are able to participate in following years for no cost.

Two Peas in a Bucket is doing a 36 Days of Christmas Holiday Countdown with a bunch of creative crafting ideas.

Hi Ali! I've recently started getting supplies together to start a junk binder book too. The only problem I'm having is finding the actual binder mechanism. I'm wondering if I could purchase some sale actual 3 ring binders on the cheap and rip the mechanism out or not? Any thoughts? Thanks again for all you do to inspire!

Thanks for these links. I haven't decided on how I'm going to document December as I'm still working on some other handmade things and don't want to get overwhelmed. But it's nice to have some creative fires stoked once in awhile.
Heading down to Portland this weekend after Thanksgiving - looking forward to browsing through Powells. Maybe I'll score a book or two of yours!

I absolutely adore that tree with all of the cards hanging from it! What a beautiful centerpiece by an entrance way or on a kitchen table! An excellent way to illustrate christmas wishes and thankful blessings! It is also a nice way to have guests within your home share theirs, by having them write something and hanging it on the tree!

I just wanted to take the time to wish you and your family a lovely Thanksgiving, and to THANK YOU for all of the time you take to share with us all of your wonderfully inspiring creativity (sorry to be so verbose). Though our Thanksgiving is touched with a bit of sadness because we are now one person less in our family, we are so grateful for the gifts that have been bestowed upon us over the years.

off topic...but, we found out about and participated in this project last year via your blog. With a son who has been in Africa for the past year, and having had contact with kids who use these laptops...we are more committed and very excited to again participate this holiday season.

I'm going to have to stop coming on your blog so often there are so many nice things to make and so little time. Love the binder mechanisms and that tree is just stunning.
I'm a page away from completing my Christmas Journal and I love it. I have my son's birthday, then his party on a separate day, my cousin flying in from Dubai and my cousins coming over for a girlie night, my sil's birthday AND Christmas all to pack into this journal. I really can't wait to get started.

    Ali -
You mentioned making some digital templates for the December Daily Album back in the FAQ section...(Q from Candy : I would love to know how you would suggest translating this project to digital. I am a fully digital scrapper now, so I don't have anything in the way of paper supplies. I still have a few favorite tools. Should I make 25 days of quickpages to just drop pics and journaling into? Or templates?
A : I am actually working on a set of templates that will work for this album right now. Hoping to have them available next weekend. Most likely it will be a set of templates (5 or so) that can be mixed-up throughout the month (some with a single photo and others with multiple photos). These Bread + Butter templates would also work really well. )
Did you ever get around to doing that?
    Thanks for your inspiring blog!
