Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpower- well I have 2- being a great listener and rationale person for others and finding some good/talent in everyone. As a special education teacher, the second one is very important!!

I think my superpower is patience. It's often the only thing I have to fall back on in these crazy times. If we all had a little more patience, the world would be a much better place (sorry, not a Miss America speech!).

I have superpowers with children. I believe I have an aura around me that attracts most kids...I have seen them looking at me in the mall, restaurants, etc and when I smile at them and make eye contact, often the child will want to come to me! I also see my grandchildren almost every day and each and every time they come running into my arms, so glad to see me. They believe in me and in turn, make me believe in myself...a wonderful, unique, super-person!

I am a super "Start all over again" hero. I might have a really bad day sometimes, but I start all over again the next day. I might not have patience for my kids one day, but I make sure I start all over again the next day. I just keep trying and trying and trying for a better day...then I'll start all over again!

My superpower...being an individual. I'm a military wife stationed at Fort Leavenworth, KS with my husband and kids and we proudly display our PRO-FAMILY--
PRO-OBAMA bumper sticker on our car, even though people (who are supposed to be defenders of freedom)comment on it almost daily.

I would say that at this point in my life my superpower is the ability to multi-task through working 25 hours a week, student teaching 35 hours a week, and completing homework for my masters.

I just received this e-mail from one of my best friends and thought I would share it here.
    ******************
    One Flaw In Women
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
    They stand up to injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
    They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
    a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they
think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
    can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what
    makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
    They have compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their
    family and friends.
Women have vital things to say
    and everything to give.
HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

I'd have to say that my super power is being a great listener. I listen and listen and don't judge. I only offer opinions when asked. Some people 'hear' a person when they talk, but it is different to 'listen'.
Best wishes to you and your family (including your baby girl that's almost here)!
Love your blog! Love your work!
Thanks for the possible chance at winning a beautiful Superhero necklace. I love them :)

My superpower depends on who is answering the question. My husband says it's keeping our house running and taking such good care of all of them. My son says it's making the best jelly sandwich. My daughter says being able to watch movies with her and not falling asleep. I think it's just being me; mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend. I fit all those roles super! :-)

Hi Ali! Hmmm, my superpower... I guess, it is to enjoy the little things in life and to share it with others. Also I love to organise and my friends pointed out that this is so "me" and that I should take advantage out of this by doing that professionaly - but I rather like to organise for our family and friends: it just makes me happy!
All the best for you, the new baby and the rest of your family - sans

Awesome contest! Hmm...my superpower is...I can play football like Peyton Manning. I was chunky and slow in high school, and was pretty much a girlie-girl, but after 3 boys, I RAWK at football. When we get together with other families, they all say I am the best mom out there. Last time, I made an interception and got a touchdown and all three of my boys were standing and clapping!! Made me feel better than Peyton. (Don't tell anyone, but he may be just a BIT better than me,though...)

My superpower is the ability to bring people together. I never really noticed it until it started popping up on my reviews at work, but I really believe that everyone has something to offer, no matter what level they are at or who they are. My team is made up of awesome people and making them all feel that they have equal importance is something I naturally do. And I find myself doing this in my personal life as well--a trait I'm really proud of.

My superpower I guess is to recognize a sales person or a company that does a good job or puts out a great product. Especially now I want t omake sure they know we appreciate them and love their products so they don't stop making them. Plus they usually hear the complaints so this makes them happy to.
