Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My super power is listening. :)
I can listen very well to people. I'm usually bad at asking questions or starting connections, but when someone, anyone has something to tell, to complain about or someone is sad about something I'm there and listen to them. Sometimes that's all they need.

Being a military wife is my superpower :-). There are lots of us. We do it all. Have eyes in the back of our heads and extra arms to juggle everything while our hubbies are gone. Not that it comes naturally, but hey Spiderman wasn't born with his superpowers either ;-)

I would say that my superpower is to help others reach their goals. I am a Turbo Kick instuctor and I help people and push them(in a good fun way) to meet their weight loss goals! It gives me a good feeling after every class and I'm always glad to see them come back!

    Hi Ali!
I love your blog & I love that you are encouraging us to think about the positive-things are hard right now with the economy and whatnot, so its nice to take some time and look inward.
I think that my superhero power is taking care of my grandparents. I love spending time with them, doing everyday things-like paying rummie, reading the same books, or just sitting down and sharing a homemade lunch on a cold winter day. They have spent 57 years together, and they are such an inspiration to me. Caring for them may be my super hero power, but it doesn't take any magic for it to happen!
Best of luck with the preparation for baby A-

One of my superpowers is being accepting of people and who they are, I've been told that I am a very easy person to be with because of that. I used to have the superpower of sleeping but that has gone dormant since having kids :-D
It's so great to read everyone's comments, we are a seriously super bunch of people! Thanks Ali for always making us think of ourselves in a positive way! XX's

I think my superpower is that I'm a super multi-tasker! With a full-time job, part-time job, grad school, running a household, etc., I manage to work well under pressure and keep a smile on my face all (ok, MOST) of the time! :)

I have the awesome superpower of catching baby vomit before it hits my clothes. Yes, that's right. I know the sound a few seconds before it makes it's appearance. Thanks for the giveaway chance-it's beautiful!

My superpower, aside from making great guacamole and salsa?
I don't know--my sister say's that I'm pretty good at handling stress, and considering the amount of stress we're all under these days, that's a great skill to have. I try to spread around the calm, buuuut...sometimes it's not to catchy :)
And can I say I've been loving those superhero necklaces for YEARS?

My superpowers? Well - I think it would have to be patience. I work with children who evoke this superpower out of me daily. Yup - it can be difficult, but I love it. :)

Lovely stuff. My superpower is keeping it all together and raising my 3 kids while my hubby is deployed to Iraq for a year. I seriously surprise myself sometimes at how I am handling things.

What a beautiful, happy necklace? Superpower...ummm...kindness. I'm tough on myself, way too critical to think I have any superpowers. But I am a kind person with a big heart!

beautiful necklace! My superpower, I think, is being a mom. Staying at home with my four, homeschooling them, as well as being chef, accountant, and maid for the household. Would I trade it for anything? No way :)

Hi Ali: What came to mind immediately was being a mom. Ever since I was a little girl I've dreampt of being a mom. I've been living that dream for the past 15+ years and am so thankful for my 3 children. I love them so much and only want to be the best mom for them. Nothing better than being a supermom to 3 superkids! Kim
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity and I can't wait to see precious baby "A".

That bead necklace is beautiful! I think I'm a super Mom and Grandma. I'm very involved with my grandkids and my daughters, but I don't "involve" myself in their lives. My son in laws will never have a reason to call me a meddling mother in law!
