365 : This Week In Photos & Words

AnnaLOW JANUARY 26 : Hello sweet, happy girl. You are a lover of life. Easy-going. You are just a few days shy of your first birthday. Almost-walking without any assistance (you actually ended up walking on your own on the 27th). Silly. Those blue eyes.

I am excited to watch life unfold for you.

JANUARY 28 : Thursday lunch. Turkey, avocado, and some cheese. Pineapples. Most days I try not to eat lunch at my computer. I go to the table. I spread out the paper...and read the news that I have already heard on NPR in the early AM.

JANUARY 29 : This morning I took three pairs of sweat pants (his pant of choice on no-school days) out of Simon's drawers because they are way past the point of being way too short.

We have this spot between our kitchen and dining room where we have been measuring him (and now Anna - who is also like a weed) since we moved in a few years back. He loves being measured. He loves seeing how tall he is getting. He often talks about being "as tall as Mom."

I think he thinks there will be a prize. I need to ask him what will happen when he is taller than me...

Those are three great books in your pile. My book group (4 couples) loved The Book Thief; I just finished The Happiness Project (loved it!), and am almost done reading Food Rules. It's becoming the topic of conversation in my kitchen!

I am really loving "The Happiness Project"....there is something there...enough to get me going on a project of my own. I will have my head in this one for a while.
I have Michael Pollans "In defense of food" and I haven't yet dived into it. I do believe I will have to get Food Rules. Sounds lovely!
    WOW....Anna is one already?

    Hi there! : )
Just a couple quickies I had to chime in on:
    *The picture of Anna -Awesome!
*Your sandwich -is making me hungry : )
*Food Rules -on my wish list. . .saw the Author on Oprah last week. . .Wow.
*Love that your height measuring area is visible for guests. . .ours is on the back of our laundry room door. . .we decided on that place so that if we ever moved we would be able to take it with us. {silly, I know} But really like that others can share in the joy your brings.
    Have a wonderful weekend. : )

Your daughter is so precious. She has the cheeks that any Mimi or grandmother would love to kiss.

Just wait until he is taller than you! My first born is now 15 and 6 foot 4! I marvel every time I look at him. When he was a baby he was smaller than his own calf! My youngest is a year older than Simon and just waiting to catch up with his big brother. They just grow so fast...
Thank you for helping me learn to enjoy and celebrate each day with my boys!

I am currently reading "The Book Thief", too! Are you loving it? I am just at the part where there's a turning point with Max - if you're not there yet, that's all I'll say. Good stuff!

As the mother of a son who passed me in height last year, there really is a prize. Simon will be thrilled to be taller than you. He will love to have to reach down to hug you. He may even delight in resting his elbow and forearm on your shoulder while smiling down at you. The prize is the delight he'll feel. And if he passes his dad in height, watch out. He'll puff up three sizes!
