Backyard Superheros + Updates

Annasuperhero

Backyard superheros were in full-force this weekend.

Superheros

Blankets as capes held together with chip-bag clips.

Him

Him. Captain Pickles.

Her

Her. Mrs. Pickles.

Play

Him wanting her to play. Her having other ideas.

Anna-out

And so it goes with two.

In certain moments one desperately wants to play with the other and then, in the very next moment, wants absolutely nothing to do with them. The result is disappointment and frustration and whining and tears and Mama's call to "take a break" for a bit.

The in-between is filled with tenderness, belly laughs, and peeks at the future and makes it all worthwhile.

We're all doing quite a bit of navigation these days. Finding our places in this new space, fumbling in the dark in an unfamiliar hallway, figuring out what drawer makes the most sense for the silverware, getting ready for the change of seasons, etc.

It's all part of the journey. And we can all use a little help from superheros now and then.

A big change to this site is coming soon. I'd hoped to have it up for you today and a few of you might have caught a glimpse of it this past weekend as some testing was done. There's a few bugs to work out before taking it completely live. I'm excited for this transformation.

To celebrate the redesign I'll be conducting another Really Big Giveaway. If your business is interested in learning more about sponsorship opportunities such as this please email me for additional information.

Isn't that always the way with kids? One wants to play so badly and the other is like "um not right now" lol! No matter their age! Can't wait to see pictures of your new space...once you figure out where the silverware goes of course ;)

Ali, it looks like you've got those outdoor rooms you were wishing for, and the kids seem to be loving it too. Congratulations on your new home. Can't wait to see your new website.

Oh, I know just what you mean. This morning my daughter was in tears because her brother wouldn't give her a hug. How do you explain that's something you can't force? Thankfully some breakfast helped her be more philosophical.

So precious, those moments when our kids play together. Even if they were born a few years apart, they still are able to connect and come up with a game they will both love.

So excited to see your site!
It seemed just like yesterday my children were playing the same games, frustrated with the same things, but that yesterday was a long time ago...I miss those days, it just went by too quickly.
    Have a wonderful day!

OMGosh...I LOVE this. Have you seen the capes at www.supercapes.com? My boys love them...although nothing really beats a chip clip/blanket combo. ;)

Some of my fondest memories are of the stories of my now 18-year old son and my Mom clipping on towels with clothespins around their necks and playing Batman and Robin. Good stuff.

Too funny - rather than superheroes with Pickles names - in our house there is a whole story and saga of "The Pickle Witch" and she is mean and takes toys from kids for no reason (in contrast to the pixies to take toys when kids leave them all over the floor; the pixies are good and they do it to teach kids a lesson)! (Lots of imaginary people in my home).
