Stripes + PJ's | New Designer Digitals Releases
Around here, we happen to be fans of stripes and PJ's (and often striped PJ's).
As I was looking through my photos for a story to tell I kept seeing all these images of kids in PJ's and/or striped shirts. I should have included a picture of the shirts hanging in my closet...there seems to be quite a few stripes in there too.
I'm definitely a fan of stories (and layouts) like this that document common threads in our everyday lives. Hooray for stripes!
DIGITAL TIP | Wondering how I got the white outline around the outside of my handwritten words? In Photoshop Elements or CS select the word art layer and go to Edit/Stroke. Here you can choose the size and color for "stroking" the word art. I entered a value of 8px and selected "outside" for the location. Play around with different px values to achieve your desired look.

Beautiful layout. I just purchased the Story Titles and noticed that they are 6ins long. As your page seems to be a 12x12 will this title stretch that long with losing quality?? I was hoping to be able to do a title like yours.

Hi Christina - yes, you can stretch them :). I designed them to fit right on top of a 4x6 photo but they can be stretched out without losing quality (I think this is because they are vector based designs originally vs. pixels but I'm not positive).
thanks so much. I couldn't work out why you could do it with these and not with others. Now I'll go and try to figure out what vector based means. Thanks so much for your help and guidance. I have changed the way I scrap thanks to you.
What I usually recommend is to just try it first (if you are printing at home) on a scratch piece of paper. Even if you are not planning on printing at home you can always do a test print at full size - even if you are only able to get part of the piece you want to print you can make sure it looks right. Hoping that makes sense...
And vector-based is when something is created in a program like Adobe Illustrator vs. Photoshop. Here's a bit about vector graphics on wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_graphics

Hi Ali, I really love your work, just wondering if you have had the chance to revist a past project of yours - The Extra Wonderful Story. Reason being, I have a 1 year old niece, and while she is young I wanted to know your favourite way of recording childrens dialogue?
Good question Rina...do you happen to have a link to that post? I have a project in mind for creating a bunch of pages based on blog posts...that might be added to the list.

I've started to notice a trend of the same horrible grey sweater in a lot of shots of my son. On a positive note I do have some cute new pj's on the shopping wish list.

I love this layout and the idea you used. We are a family who loves stripes and pj's too, never thought to do a layout. Will start taking pics of that today. I love the color of the layout too it's so soft and warm looking. Your new words and titles are terriffic and would love to see more layouts with them. Thanks for inspiring us again!!

Ali, I love the PJs layout and would really like to have a template for it. I know you used several other products, but what's the possibility of just providing a template with all of it?
Morning Kay! I actually used a freebie challenge template from 2009 as the base for this. Just got the go-ahead to update it and add it to Designer Digitals. I won't be able to add in all the exact same products as they belong to other designers, but I can get you close.

When my daughter was in kindergarten her teacher made them each a scrapbook page, a 12x12 with extra photos tucked in the back. Kindgergarten was only 2 full days a week and the teacher only took out the camera on certain days, but in a few of them my daughter was wearing a brown vest - obviously she wore it alot! Loved seeing that when she brought home her page.
The teacher did the same thing for my other daughter's class 2 years later. Love the pages and they of course went right in the albums and I took the leftover pics to make pages of my own.

Wonderful page. Oh, and thanks for the PSE tip. We like to hang out in PJs too (Especially me!) There have been a few days that my hubby has come home for work and I'm still in mine (although that isn't often). But, I like to come home from work, or after dinner (if we don't have an evening out planned) and jump into PJs - they are comforting! Humm, I really need to scrap a page on my PJs too!

Very cute! Ali I was looking for the winners post from the weekend contest and cannot find it. How do I find older posts?
Hi Stacy - you can find older posts on the blog page here:http://aliedwards.com/blog or on the projects blog page here: http://aliedwards.com/projects (or just clink on the links at the top of the page). Here's a direct link to the giveaway winners from this past weekend: http://aliedwards.com/2010/09/the-pretty-little-studio-giveaways-goes-to.html
Another way you can get there is by using the navigation on the left side of the main blog under "Archives By Category" select "giveaways."
Got it! The links under your header aren't working for me, but I think I know why. I need to update my browser. Duh!! LOL!! I bet that will do the trick and allow me to navigate your site problem free. Thanks, Ali :-)

The roller shades are purely for entertainment. You want to make cleaning more difficult - you should
never use metal to clean vinyls; you wood venetian blinds would likely need to replace
the stem and push it out of the child's reach. Nurseries love roller blinds because they instantly add natural beauty and insulating
qualities of wood but have various intricate designs and
shades on them. You kinda wish there is something more to it.
Some blinds are available but are not as high costing as the wood venetian blinds wooden or Roman blinds.
