Week In The Life | Share The Love

Hey guys - plans for 2011's Week In The Life project are underway. It's just about a month away from the start - July 25th through July 31st.

I'm working on new digital layered template sets (both 8.5x11 and 12x12) and I'm thinking about what I want my focus to be this year. The focus is always words + photos + a bit of stuff from life, but I think I might want to try to do even more writing this year.

Don't let the fact that I just wrote MORE WRITING scare you off. That's what I want to do...there's so many different ways to approach this project and whatever way you decide to do it will be the right way for you at this point in time.

This project can be done digitally or with all traditional supplies or with a mix of both. For the last few years I've been doing a mix of both and that's what I'll be doing again this year in an 8.5 x 11 format. I'll be sharing tutorials and such as we get closer - don't worry about any of that right now.

For now, just get it on your calendar and maybe start thinking about whether there's something different you'd like to incorporate this time if you're a veteran of the project.

If you're new to Week In The Life I highly recommend checking out all that I've written about it in the past few years. Check out the main page here.

As I prepare I wanted to invite you to share about the project on your blogs. Below you'll find new banners for 2011. Please link to http://aliedwards.com/2010/01/week-in-the-life.html (it's already included in the code listed below):

PLEASE NOTE | If you are having a problem posting the banner to your site, try manually entering the code vs. copying and pasting. There seems to be an issue with the quote marks and how they appear here.

I rediscovered your blog last year shortly after you completed a week in the life so I ended up doing it Mother's Day week and it was perhaps my favorite project I did in 2010. I was thinking of making it a Mother's Day week tradition but wanted to await the arrival of our second baby and thought I'd do it with you this summer. But we're on vacation that week so I've decided next week will be our Week in the Life week. (not that you care about all these details) Mostly I wanted to thank you for the inspiration for this great project. It's perfect for an on again off again scrapbooker/documenter such as myself!

    Hi Ali,

I will be traveling back home to Phoenix to see family during that time. Any suggestions on how to do week in the life while on vacation? How would I pack the supplies I would need or that?

    any help would be great!

Yay! Another week in the life! Last year was my first year and this year will be the first married year! :D I'm doing digital this year and want to do more writing too. Not necessarily about what I'm doing every day but about what I'm thinking and feeling. I was overwhelmed by taking pictures last year and will probably make the whole project a lot smaller than I did before. I'll be finding some journaling inspiration in the mean time!

I took your Album Track at CKU for this in 2006 and now, 5 years later, I think its time for part deux!

How fun! We will be moving across the Atlantic Ocean the following week. I'd love to do it though - it will be a documentation of our last week in the US! Definitely doing it digitally though, the scrapbooking supplies will be long since packed. :)

    Hi Ali,

I'm new to "Week in the Life," but I want to plunge in this year!

I struggle with technology and wish to know what version of Photoshop Elements you'll be using for your tutuorials. I want to follow your lessons closely, so I won't mess up.

I'll update my Photoshop Elements version (if I have to), so I can follow your lead.

    Thanks!

For Elements I'm using version 6 (I think - I'll double check when I'm on my other computer). Most of my tutorials have been done with that version.

But really, it's less about technology and more about capturing your life. The technology can be an aide but it can also be a hindrance - don't let it hinder you from simply taking photos and writing stuff down.

You are going to LOVE this project, Damiane! Have faith in yourself though, and your ability to make this project your own! Ali is AWESOME, but remember this is YOUR week, not hers.

      Blessings,
      Kristin

Last year was the first time I participated in Week in the Life and I LOVE IT! It truly is my favorite project I've done and ever since then I've been anxious to do it again. SO looking forward to it! A lot has changed since last April and I can't wait to capture it in such detail. Good for you for wanting to incorporate more writing. I wrote an insane amount last year and know that I'll do that again this year as that is just my nature.

Take care and blessings to you,
    Kristin

Yay!! I have been looking at "week in the life" for the last few years, but have never thought I would be organised enough etc, but this year I am just going to jump right in and do it! I love how you document everyday things, all those moments that we smile about or laugh at but forget a couple of weeks/months down the track. You are one word...INSPIRATIONAL :-)

Wow, that was quick - I just left a comment last week for a reminder of what week you had chosen for this year along with a request for a banner. Thanks so much for sharing. Last year I did mine digitally (my first photobook ever; I used your week in the life templates from the year before); I may go for a 'paper' version this year. Looking forward to seeing your ideas; they always inspire and will help me figure out what my approach will be.

Hooray for WITL, I CAN'T WAIT!! Last year was my first time joining in and loved it. Would love to do a digital version but do not have photo shop so will stick to the paper way. Thanks for the banner and the colors are my favorite. Good luck everyone and remember to have fun and don't stress over it.

These are like blog buttons right? I know how to do this, but when I do yours it's not showing up in my blog at all. I tried doing a post with it also and got the same result, nothing showing up. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm doing what I always do for adding blog buttons!

I keep struggling to make it work, too. I have tried it a variety of times yesterday, changing something each time and still no luck. Perhaps, I will fiddle with it again later.

I have tried this every which way and I can't get it to work. I don't understand what is wrong with the code and, therefore, don't know what to do to fix it. Any help would be appreciate4d!

Not sure why the quotes ( " and " ) are not coming up how they should be. Try manually entering the code vs. copying and pasting.

Try to delete and manually enter all of the " in code. That's what ended up working for me. Sorry about the last comment. I tried to paste in the code I used and it didn't show up. :)

The link isn't working for me either Rebekah. I'm trying to add the HTML link but it doesn't show up on my blog. I'm going to keep trying but maybe I need to look it up in the FAQ's. :)

I got it to work! (Should've tried this before I replied the first time...haha!) I think there are some extra parentheses in the html. I'm using the long orange link and this is what worked for me. Hope this is okay, Ali.

Also, with the starting and stopping, I'd take some time to think about what happened that made you stop the last few times. If you're interested in doing it again how can you make it work for you? It doesn't have to be the same as I do it -

    2. Ali says…
      06/24/2011

Hi Linda - there are definitely people participating who either don't have children or who have children that are now out of the house. What's important about this project is really celebrating the life you are living right now - regardless of your surrounding circumstance. It's about realizing that YOU and YOUR story are important and worth telling.

    Hi Ali,
I will be joining the fun and can't wait. I do have a question. My PSE version 6 for Mac is acting up again and last time this happened I dumped it and re-installed it. Do you know how many times you can re-install the software? Is there a limit? I own the software and it has only been used on my Mac. Thanks to you and/or anyone who can help.

Hi Christine - I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to this. I don't think there's a limit on the number of times you can install but I don't know that for sure.
