Project Life® 2013 | Week Forty-Two

AE_PL2013_WK42_closeup

Welcome to Project Life® 2013 | Week Forty-Two (October 14th through October 20th).

A couple of questions for you today:

  • Do you guys like seeing these catch-up weeks?

  • Does it matter to you that they aren't from last week?

  • Is there anything specific you'd like to know about my process or approach to Project Life®?

Mainly I want to get a sense if you care when the spreads come from? I've been keeping up with 2014 but haven't shared them yet (except my Title Page and Week Three) because I feel like I want to get 2013 out of the way first.

Here's a look at Week 42:

When I looked back through my 2011 and 2012 Project Life® albums one of the things I love seeing are the bits of life: receipts, drawings, tags, etc. I seem to have gotten away from that a bit in 2013 and I'd like to make that happen again more in 2014.

I've now got a supply of 8.5 inch x 11 inch page protectors back on hand to use as inserts to help with that process.

This week I included the kids school photos. On top of the two of them together I added a white label sticker from Kelly Purkey/Simon Says Stamp and wrote their grade on each side.

Heart Fall is from this set of word art: Fall Boxes

Heart This is a printable card from this set: Hello Fall

And one of those things I keep using are Heidi's handwritten glitter word stickers. Love those things. I used them on the page below as well.

I'm still doing that thing where I cut a PL card and add a portion of it to a photo for my journaling. It's such a quick and easy way to add a bit of context and a few more words to my spread.

Katie and I went to Nashville for the weekend and made it to the Country Music Hall of Fame and got to see Scotty McCreery at the Grand Ole Opry. Katie is a much bigger country music fan than me but man I loved it all. I especially loved getting to go to Hatch Show Print and came home with two new prints.

I love seening PL layout, doesn't matter 2013, 2009 at all.
Share how you separete the photos, cards to do the spread. How do you choose the cards? to match the photos? Do you use most desing A page protector?

    You're a great inspiration, Ali!

I also like seeing the catch up pages, since I am also catching up on a few pages in 2013 while doing 2014. Looking forward to seeing 2014 pages!

Yes, any layouts are wonderful. No. I'd like to see what people do for those not so great weeks. I find I don't take many (or any) photos those times. It's had to take photos of multiple doctor app't with my parents.

I love seeing your PL pages, it doesn't matter what week it is to me. I look at your spreads as a method of inspiration, so it doesn't matter at all what order they are in. Keep posting!

I too, love to see your layouts and I'm not picky about which weeks you show... I love to see how you use embellishments and the types of stories you tell because it inspires me when I need photo ideas or topic ideas to capture in my own family's PL album. Thank you for the continued inspiration!

Love seeing them...no matter what date. It doesn't matter to me at all that they aren't from last week. I just love to see your creativity at work.

I think you've documented it before, but what works for you with regard to keeping notes during the week? Still post-its?

Thanks and I love your blog. One of few I look forward to reading daily ;)

I love seeing ANY PL pages that you post. Last year or current it's the magic that you create that I always look forward to seeing. Especially since kits are not really year bound anymore, I don't think timeframes are that important. I'm not as interested in the organization as I am in what you consider when you select photo's and how you make it come together in a way that "works!" (But perhaps there are some things that shouldn't be made into a science.)

Yes, please; no, thanks; and no, thanks again.
I love what you do and am so inspired I don't want to miss a week!
Post 'em when you finish 'em and we'll enjoy 'em then!

I don't really care when your spreads come from in terms of time - what matters more to me is getting to consistently see your work. So if you have things from 2014 that are done - I'd prefer to see those on a regular basis vs. waiting to see a bunch from 2013 that are catch up. You provide so much great inspiration - and that's what I'm looking for. I think that's why I enjoy seeing your spreads that DO NOT use the Studio Calico kits so much - because they seem to be a little less forced... a little more real... (not a judgement - just an observation) - and I like seeing how you approach things- even if it's as simple as text on photos and calling it a day. For me it's all about just regularly and consistently seeing examples of your work. You are awesome - and inspiring - and I find myself checking in just to make sure that I haven't missed anything!

    Ali and Katie,
I love seeing the PL spreads!! They are amazing. It doesn't matter if it's from last week, last month, or last year. I just love seeing how your spreads come together. I find most people's PL spread posts boring, but I love seeing how you both embellish the pages and fit the week into a spread.

What about doing a video of putting the LO together? Or a post where you talk about some of your favorite products right now? Being active duty Navy with a deployed husband (and a toddler to care for), I don't get a chance to take classes right now. Watching videos helps me feel connected to other crafters. Just my thoughts. Thanks!

Any of your layouts are an inspiration, whether last week, or last year! Keep it up!

Hatch Show Print was one of my favorite stops too from a trip to Nashville years ago! I have several of their prints and love them! Your post makes me want to go back again!

It totally doesn't matter to me what week the spread is from :) I love your work and find a lot of inspiration in just seeing how you've used your supplies to tell your stories in a beautiful way.

I like seeing everything, I don't care when! I really just love seeing your actual pages/spreads versus anything else. Just to see how other creators create and how different scrapbookers interpret memory keeping. In reality, we all have projects that get behind and play catch-up, so if anything it's more relative.

Your project life spreads are the most inspirational! It doesn't matter if you share a past week or a current week, I love them all. One of my favorite ideas from this spread is how you incorporated S & A's school pictures. What a fabulous idea.
Finding ways to use our supplies in different ways is also another favorite. Keep them coming!! Love your style!!

TRAVEL SCRAPBOOKS!!! I've done PL and it's not for me anymore but I'm glad it's working for you. I love your December Daily albums and I think your travel albums will be just as lovely. I loved your Halloween album from a few years ago too. I know this doesn't answer your questions about PL but I think everyone else has answered those! ;)

I love to see all your PL posts. I don't think you're alone in catching up and your posts remind us that guilt and perfectionism have no place in memory keeping. Plus they are gorgeous and inspiring! Please keep sharing them.

Just keep them coming. Anything in any order is great and inspiring. I do love to see that even someone who makes their living in the industry isn't always "caught up" . Thank you for sharing.
