Finding the spirit.

Daily documentation is not easy. Plain and simple.

Stuff gets in the way. Work and dishes and laundry and meetings and shopping and on and on.

Today as I was doing a bit of shopping after a meeting I started getting excited again. Re-energized. I have been focusing on all the other things in life this past week, getting out of the flow of the season. Now I am back in the mood: wrapping, food planning for the time our guests will be here, picking up last minute gifts, and simply chilling in front of the tree listening to Christmas music. Feeling the spirit.

Tonight I will get back on track with my daily entries, or maybe I will watch It's A Wonderful Life with my boys again. Either way, it will be with a much renewed sense of spirit.

Ali, are you planning a "one word" for next year? I'm so glad I did it for 2007 - it was so much more effective than a list of new year's resolutions. I'm working on narrowing down to perfect word now... WONDERFUL idea, thank you for sharing it!

Thank you for saying how hard it is and how stuff...laundry, cleaning, errands, etc. get in the way. Makes me a feel a bit better knowing I'm not alone in feeling this way. Thanks for reminding me about the movie. I recorded it and it is waiting. :)

I know what you mean, Ali! Life always finds a way to get in the way of best intentions. We had an unexpected death in the family - a really great blow to me personally - that is creeping in on my ability to be festive. All we can do is the best we can do. Enjoy your family and the time you have together. If you don't get all the days documented - "IT'S OK!" (as someone once said) :)

    Hello,
I keep wondering how you planned your day. Do you have any special planner or you use any special software ?
If you made your own planner , I love to see it.
    Have a nice day!

Today my dh and I opted to go for a ride in the country to enjoy the beautiful snow instead of going shopping. Sometimes you just have to let go and do what gives you peace and happiness. It is necessary. Cindy

Daily documenting is not easy?..... let me about it.. i have just recently discovered. i've been doing "photo a day" for my almost 2 yr old little girl. she turns a year older on new year's eve.... so i thought i'd document/photo a day her until her 2nd birthday> that's a whole month! i'm keeping notes and whatnot about her in my personal journal... i keep reminding myself to do it, because this is not what i normally do: i'm not accustomed to this and yea... it's not easy: plain and simple
i have a new respect of your DAilY SomEthiNG, Ali. how do you this?

Hey Ali...The latest issue of Cooking Light has some good menus for the holiday season. Usually they provide great step by step how-to pull-this-menu-off-for-a-crowd instructions.

I marvel everyday at your ability to get done as much as you do! Kick back and relax!! I wouldn't even be writing this, but my kids are away for the night :)
Go grab some cocoa, cuddle with the boys and watch a movie, you deserve it!

Ali...I have this poster on my scraproom wall that says, among other things, to "Be Real". Seems to me you're about as real as it gets for a woman, wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, creative wizard...it's life in all it's forms. If other things didn't intrude on the fun stuff, we wouldn't get to refocus and enjoy it that much more the second time! Merry Christmas.

i'm impressed that you've done what you've done...i usually get around to my christmas photos around march :) i do keep a little christmas journal, so i don't forget what i want to remember. i can hardly keep up with all the wrapping, card mailing, etc. i finally got around to some scrapbooking last night because i just wanted to do something creative...but it had been a few weeks.

Now that we're through the first round of birthdays, we're starting to get in the spirit, too. Taking each day slowly and doing one thing at a time. Had a huge birthday for Baby Jesus when we got out our Nativity set the other day. Kinda hard to top that when putting up garland was next on the list. ;o) So, we left it for the next day and are enjoying spreading it out. Enjoy it all!
