God Bless Tim Russert.

Chris and I were so sad to read the breaking news that Tim Russert, host of Meet The Press, died today. He was our Sunday morning tradition. We so enjoyed him as a journalist because it was so obvious that he absolutely loved his work and lived his life passionately.

Even if we never knew him personally we will miss him.

Ali, "Meet the Press" was the Sunday morning tradition in my house as well. It really is a shock.

I 2nd that blessing. I was just watching him last Sunday. Hadn't tuned-in for a while. Very ironic for me to have viewed his last segment.
    RIP, Tim Russert.

My husband came home from work today and said "Did you hear your buddy died today?" And when he told me it was Tim I was sure he was confused and ment Big Russ, Tim's Dad had died. I put on MSNBC right away and have been watching it for hours. I feel kind of foolish crying over a person I never met but my husband and I have both read his books and TIVO meet the press. I am so upset because he loves the elections so much and he really could explain to all of us and he was just so likeable. It is such a sad day. My thoughts are with his family.

I just got home from work, and haven't watched the news, so thanks for posting this. What a devastating loss for his family, who he always talked about in his interviews, and to everyone who watched his show. He was inspirational always. So sad. He's my generation, but I see from these comments that he was a multi-generational personality, as well.

I was also so saddened by this news. I didn't watch him on Sunday mornings (and now wish I did) but several years ago I used to listen to him on the radio on the drive to work in the AM. He was so intelligent and so real and just so good. I watched the news tonight and learned what a true friend and family man he was. He will be so missed. :-(

We are so sad in our house-click on your blog shocked me because I'd been at work all day and away from the TV and the net. Such a loss of a great political voice.

I understand the importance of politics. However, serious political shows put me to sleep. EXCEPT FOR MEET THE PRESS. Tim Russert was a class act and no matter how much I want to sleep in on Sunday Morning, when I hear the theme music, I lay in my bed and LISTEN. I can't go back to sleep. He was tough, civil, respectful, and dignified. He will be greatly missed.

I join you in your sadness. I lost my father this same way when he was 47. I feel the whole country has lost a special soul. He was loved and revered so many people. I pray for his family.

Thanks Ali for giving us a place to share our grief and memories of Tim Russert. It still seems so unbelieveable. He was such a great family man and loved his hometown, Buffalo. We are so proud of how he represented our city. The presidential campaign won't be the same without him.

It was mu husbands and mine guilty pleasure as well...ever since the white board and "Florida, Florida, Florida." Can't believe he's gone. A lesson to us all, to live our life with the same passion that he did.

I just watched a re-run of The Big Idea with Donny Duestch with Tim Russert as the guest. Such an excellent, human look at the man. If you get the chance to see it, it's very worthwhile.

Just wanted to echo the sentiments- how sad to lose this intelligent, driven man! My dad has been trying to get my husband and I to read his book- now's the time.

You definitely need to read this book about his dad, Big Russ and Me. You'll see how he became the man he was. Such a loss.

I just got finished watching Saturday's Today Show episode dedicated to Tim. It was a great tribute featuring co-workers and politicians remembering their favorite things about Tim. What really got me was when Matt Lauer was closing the broadcast and you could see his eyes get red and start to get teary. You could tell he was trying to hold the tears back until the cameras were off. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I have cried all morning. Being from Buffalo, this really hits close to home and our entire city is in mourning.
I loved watching Meet the Press on Sunday mornings...it won't be the same.
He was a beautiful man...a loving father and husband...someone you just felt like you knew.
    He will be greatly missed.
