Each year I create a summer 'rainy day box' which is filled with small cheap toys, treats, and even some of their excess birthday gifts that haven't yet been opened...its great to have a stash of stuff to keep the kids surprised and occupied on those days when we can't go inside.

My daughters and I have a scrapping weekend/retreat at a resort in August. It is great girl fun and now that my girls are grown it is especially nice to reconnect with them and get to know the women they've become.

A favorite summer tradition is watching the fireworks on the fourth. I know - everyone has that tradition. But what's really cool is that where our house is located, we can see two awesome separate fireworks shows - right from our own backyard! How cool is that!!
