    My favorite holiday traditions are:
    1. Cookie baking day with the female relatives in my family... like 70 dozen of different types in a day!
    2. Christmas eve service with candlelight and caroling in the courtyard.

I love hanging the ornaments on the tree. Each one is special and unique. I enjoy remembering each of their stories, even if it is only to myself.

Our favorite family tradition is going to my in-laws house on Christmas day. The family members all sit in a circle and open up the presents that my wonderful mother-in-law has been buying for us all year. We each take turns and open one-by-one. Then she and "Bompa" sit on the couch and we all present our gifts to them. They usually cry with happiness! I love it!

Favorite Christmas tradition, hmm... I think I like collecting ornaments and saving/cherishing ornaments from past Christmases. Since I was a child I get a new ornament each year and we continue that on with my kids.

My favorite tradition is singing Christmas carols in church with my family and getting up on Christmas morning and the playful way we open gifts.

My favorite tradition is my children decorating their trees. We have a girl's tree in the girl's room and a boy's tree in the boy's room.
When my oldest was a baby, I found wonderful journal ornaments. I have faithfully each year recorded the ornaments they receive (we always put one in their stocking)in their own unique journal.
Each child takes his/her turn to add their ornaments to the tree. I hand them out one by one in order they were received and remind them who gave them the ornament and tell them the story behind the ornament.
The children love to see their ornaments and hear the stories. They admire them as they look for the perfect spot to hang each treasure. Everyone gathers to listen and watch.

Looks like some cool stuff. One of our December/Christmas traditions is to go out and get the tree the first weekend in December, but we don't decorate it. We always wait till the next day so that all the branches can fall and I don't lose/drop some of my favorite more breakable ordaments. :-)

My favorite December tradition is putting up my Department 56 Dicken's village. I get a new building each year, so it's getting big! But it is my job to make a cozy little village inside while DH is outside working on the lights.

The festive season is a great time for me, there is Christmas, my wedding anniversary and my birthday - I just love December!!! The best thing for me at Christmas is being with my family and just relaxing and reminiscing about the things we have done that year and just appreciating the time we have together.

Our VERY favorite tradition is "Charlie Elf" ... a second-generation tradition passed down from my husband's mother. Charlie visits every December night (dependent)on good behavior naturally!) and leaves a small surprise for my children. I think Charlie is at least as beloved as Santa ... and a cherished part of our pre-Christmas preparations!

My favorite Christmas tradition is standing in the warmth of our livingroom and watching as my husband scales the 2 story ladder to put up our outdoor Christmas lights(some awesome acrylic icicles)out in the cold and often wet weather we have this time of year in the Pacific Northwest. I know it's not very nice, but I'd rather it was him than me!

Since I have lived in Japan for the last 8 years, I've gotten out of the habit of celebrating Christmas. Everything revolves around New Years here.
But one great thing my city does is on Christmas Eve, they hold a 45 minute fireworks show down at the port. The fireworks are set to Christmas music and a holiday story (in Japanese) but it still is pretty fun.
I'm from Michigan in the States and never would have thought about watching fireworks during Christmas. Christmas Eve is usually considered a "date night" so there are a lot of couples snuggled under blankets, eating Christmas cake and drinking wine. It's a great place to be if I can't be at home!
