Around The Room | Living With Your Photos + Color Inc Giveaway
I'm a huge fan of living with your photos. Out of albums, off your computer and onto your walls.
Over the years I've amassed quite a collection of family images - many of the recent ones being mounted rather than framed as you'll see below (and above). When I first starting hanging up photos I wanted them to be all black frames with white mats. Now I'm really enjoying the variety of both the framed and simply mounted images.
Around our house I've got quite a few gatherings happening on the walls. Some are consistent collections (meaning all mounted or all framed) and others are a mixture of the two.
The first ones I want to talk about line the hall from our entry into the kitchen.
The images are 12x12 photos are "standout mounted" from Color Inc. (Color Inc is a sponsor of my blog and has been generous with samples for me in the past and as you'll see below. This set I purchased on my own. They are excellent quality and have wonderful customer service.) When we moved into this house I ordered eight or nine of these with the intent that they would be grouped together and I love them.
They are mounted onto the wall using Miller Studio Magic Mounts removable mounting tabs. I tried a couple of other brands and these have worked the best.
You might have seen this image a couple weeks ago. This is in our dining area, between the kitchen and living room. This wall has a combination of framed and mounted images. The one of Simon and Anna in the blue shirts is from Persnickety Prints.
Upstairs I've got a few other collections starting. In the room you enter before coming into my office I've got a large standout mount from Color Inc (photo taken by Tracey Clark). That one is 3o inches x 20 inches.
In my office I've included two Ikea frames with 12x12 photos of me and Chris as kids. I enlarged these 1970's photos on my scanner and they were printed at Scrapbookpictures.com. These hung in Anna's room in our last house.
A little collage in Simon's room that includes photos, Star Wars stamps, and a signed photo of Yoda from Frank Oz.
And this one was in Anna's room in our last house. I didn't recreate it here yet, but it was a favorite in the old place.
In our bedroom I'm just beginning to build a photo wall.

I've been told a few times I might consider putting something other than photos on my walls. Sometimes, because of this, frames and photos sit, waiting to be hung because other people thing I over use them. Now I just don't care. I love seeing the memories my family has made together and also being able to follow the development of my photography skills. I have a huge photo collage wall in my living room with a few smaller groupings around. I have plans for making smaller collections in a few other places.
It's not that I don't like art, but photos speak to me in a way that paint or other mediums don't. I have photos EVERYWHERE.

I live with lots of photos still in the envelopes from the developer! I am just beginning to build collages on walls and enlarge more photos. Thanks for the inspiration!

ashamed to say they are on my computer. i just finished putting together a book, though, that chronicles April 2010 (when my daughters turned four and one, respectively) and April 2011.

Thanks for sharing! I have a gathering of 15 B&W photos in different sizes on the wall next to our dining room table and various framed photos other places in the house. I'd love to do something similar to your row of canvases along a wall. Thanks for the giveaway and inspiration!

I did something similar to the childhood pictures of you and your husband. I put together two photo collages. I scanned and cropped old family pictures. One collage frame contained baby pictures of all my immediate family members (Mom, Dad, Grandparents, Sibling) with a picture of me as a baby in the center. The second collage was the same layout but with baby pictures of my husbands family, again with his baby picture in the center. I hung both collages over the baby's crib in the nursery. My children have moved on to more grown up rooms now but the "baby" collages still hang in our guest room.

Currently we enjoy our photos via the computer (screen savers, slideshows, etc.), but my daughter and I have already picked out a bunch of our favorite photos in order to do exactly what you blogge about!

I do the same concept of multiple groups around our home with different "themes" (one of all pics with people walking away from the pics, one of collages of 'years in review', one of people we love who live far away, etc) -- but i am still holding to my unmatted black frame consistency throughout all the groupings. seeing how 'put together' it can still look even without that consistent quality makes me want to try to mix it up, i am just worried that it will look horrible but others will be too kind to tell me to change it :) love the idea of mixing in some canvases - will have to break out of the box a bit soon, just as soon as i can find the lid!!

I am always inspired by your photo collages!
I have been building a "Wall of Wonderful Women" for several years, showcasing photos, some dating back to my grandparent's wedding, of all of the great women in my family. Since having children, I have been looking for new ways to do this with my favorite photos of them. Thank-you for reminding me that I should stop thinking about it and do it!

truth be told I haven't been "living" with my photos. I have just recently started scrapbooking and thanks to your inspiration began project life. I want to hang photos in our home starting with my 18 month old daughters room. Pictures containing her are just my absolute favorite!

I'm not great at putting my photos up on my walls yet. I have a great collage with mixed frames in our upstairs hall, and I did do some with white frames and white mats going up our stairs. Otherwise I only have a few, but would love to do more.

There's nothing I love more than being surrounded by family photos, makes me smile everytime I walk down a hall. The problem is as my kids have grown up, I don't want to replace what's there, but I'm running out of room! Yours look amazing, enjoy those gorgeous little faces!

Most of my photos are framed and set on little tables, counters, etc. My boyfriend that I live with is neurotic about holes in the walls and won't let me mount anything! I should try those tabs...

one of the items that line my walls is inspired by you. i found a letterpress drawer online and created one for my husband and i, full of photos of us together, us as children and before we met. i really love looking at it. it takes me back to fun memories.
i recently spent some time with family and they brought an album of their recent trip to hawaii. it made me wish i was better at printing my photos. flipping through the pages was so much more fulfillin than clicking my mouse. i have thousands of photos and starting a project to print them has been overwhelming, but i hope to start doing that from now on and slowly working on my archives.

I have a few photos in frames which are placed (sparingly) on a few tables through out the house. After living 11 years in my house, I decided it's time to put some pictures up on the wall !

I have photos in frames, scrapbooks and boxes, but I haven't enlarged any to hang on the walls. I hope to put together a collage so that I can enjoy them everyday. Thanks!

We have a photo wall in our hallway to the bedrooms and there are a few clusters of small photo frames throughout the house, but since we've gone digital, most of our images are trapped on the hard drive waiting to be printed for scrapbooks & photo frames.
Need to spend time to print & order more often. So many more images with the SLR but need to make time to print them so they can be enjoyed! Thank you for the inspiration and chance to win! Would love to win one of the photo canvases!

My new passion is photography, and I've printed very few of my photos, and when I have, they've been for somebody else. I'm now inspired to go check out Color Inc. Your photos look great on your walls. I'm not sure what's taken me so long to realize that I need to do this! Thanks, Ali!
