January 2014 Studio AE Blog Hop from Technique Tuesday
Welcome to the January Studio AE Blog Hop From Technique Tuesday.
Technique Tuesday offers a monthly stamp club that features a limited edition stamp set designed by me each month. You can check out past stamp sets (some are still available) here.
PS | I've got a bunch of new stamps now available at Technique Tuesday. Check out the new releases here.
Say hello to this month's stamp set: All My Heart
DIGITAL MEMORY KEEPER? Designs similar to this can be found here: Love Boxes Vol. 02
Here's a look at how I used this month's stamp set on a journal-heavy 6x12 insert for Project Life:
If I could give you one memory keeping suggestion today that would be to make your products work for you.
For me that means that most of the time the products are supporting the story rather than acting as the star of the story.
When I went looking for content for a layout this month I looked at a list Katie and I came up with of past blog posts I want to turn into layouts (we used many of them in my Hello Story workshop last summer). I like using my blog as a holding place for stories. It's an opportunity to write longer stories without the pressure of making them fit onto a scrapbook page. I write first and then create a page around the words at a later time.
The words for this page are from August 2012. I pulled out my 2012 Project Life album and found a spread (Week 33) where these words would fit great as an insert.
For the stamped accent I embossed using Green Metallic Zing.
I used my 6x12 Words & Photos Layered Template set as a starting point (if you'd like to watch video tutorial on working with this set go here), printed it here at home on my Epson R2000 on 13x19 photo paper, trimmed it down and then added embellishments after printing.
Here's what it looked like in Photoshop before printing:
This, my friends, is what we call hybrid scrapbooking - a combination of digital and traditional.
The small stamp from this month's set was the perfect little addition to the photo, popped up with a foam square adhesive right in the middle.
Another product I added along the edge was an awesome transparent piece from this set of Heidi Swapp embellishments called Mixed Company Ephemera. I opened the package for the first time yesterday and seriously loved some of the contents. Definitely worth checking out if you like a combination of printed, vellum and transparent pieces all together.
Pattern paper along the bottom is from Carta Bella (the words) and Studio Calico (black & white floral from the Sundrifter collection).
Here's what the 6x12 page looks like placed in my 2012 album (Week 33):
I used a 6x12 Project Life Page Protector to hold this page.
After taking these photos and then linking up to Week 33 I found that there was originally another insert included in this week with more photos from the fair. I found those (they had been put back in the wrong spot) and added them back in to the correct week.
On the back of the 6x12 insert I added a full page photo with another embossed stamp from this month's set.
The color of this Zing embossing powder is Red Zing Metallic. It's called red but as you can see here in this picture (and on the product image) it's really more of a dark pink.
Here's a look at it in the album:
I really do love adding in longer stories about my life/our life into Project Life.

Love this set, and great idea to go back and add details in. I've made a few spreads that feel unfinished or I don't really like, so this could be a good way to revitalise them!
