December Daily® 2014 | Day Seven
Welcome to December Daily® 2014 | Day Seven.
I hope that some of you had a chance to work on your albums this weekend - love seeing them linked here and via Instagram. Thank you for sharing using the #decemberdaily hash tag to make them easy to see via Instagram.
Today I'm going with a combo of our Christmas card + more little stories.
For the last few years I've ordered and/or partnered with Minted for our Christmas card. They are great quality with lots of awesome design choices and my overall experience with them each time has been really good. You can check out the past cards I've ordered and added to my December Daily® albums here: 2013, 2012, 2011.
You might also notice that this year I went for a photo of the three of us vs. just the kids. I love how this one turned out.
Here's a look at my Day Seven:
I did move a few things around from how I had set up my Foundation Pages to be able to use the 6x8 Day Seven printable in addition to our holiday card.
You can see what I have up next for tomorrow in my album at the bottom of this post.
Super simple idea. Obviously you can write more of a story about this as well - why you chose the card you did, the story of taking the photo, etc.
Holes punched using the Crop A Dile.
I decided not to do anything with the back of the bag or the back of the photo from Day Six. I might add something later in the month and if I do I'll share it here. The card could have obviously been placed in the bag too but I really wanted it to be a page itself.
I'm back again with more little stories (similar to Day Five). The stars stamp + the "the story of today" stamp make a nice little list journaling opportunity.
Here's what it looked like before I added my stories:
And after:
I used the same two pens as Day Five.
A here's the base of what I'll be working with tomorrow:
Which is perfect since there are "8" spots for what I want for Christmas and I'll add some sort of 4x6 photo in the pocket below.
Have a great Monday!

Gorgeous page once again. I absolutely adore your handwriting. Tried some journalling with mine tonight and it was a horrid fail resorted to typing it up. Also love the 3 stars as bullet points for mini stories. I never thought to journal on a whole 6x8! Thanks Ali.

I am so excited to get started on my album today. I have been collecting stuff and preparing photos on my desktop. I have to print from outside my home (hoping to get a home printer in 2015), so I plan on sending out a ton of stuff to get printed this week. I love the starbucks bag idea and snagged one from my several trips to that place. Thanks for all the inspiration!!
Warmly,
Elizabeth

Your Christmas card is so cool, fun and cheery. I love the journaling too, great idea the repetition with the stamp. Love it when you do that. Michelle t

Have photos selected and journaling written in my book that I keep track of my projects. I have no pages completed. Recently decided to keep my DD simple with one photo per day (unless something big happens). Really trying to focus more on the journaling instead of all the photos. I am hoping to find a good balance but want to push myself to write the stories.

LOVE this page. I started our "day one" on the fifth of December, as my middle child is over 1,000 miles away and won't be home until Dec 26. I wanted to allow time to include stories, photos, and notes about our time with her. I have to admit that I kind of like having a buffer of a few days to gather inspiration from others!
Also, love love love that you have been listening to Serial. I'm addicted!

Love this because before I even saw your post for today, our Christmas cards from Minted just arrived today and I had decided to make our story about our card! What a funny (and awesome) coincidence that you did the same :)

Oh my! Beautiful Christmas card, Ali. I love that you've left it 'free standing'...and your Day 7/'the story of today' page..(GASP)!!! I can't say enough nice things about it. I hate to be a copy-cat..but I think I'm going to have to 'borrow' this idea. <3 I really struggle with getting words onto my pages. Even jotting down everyday, simple thoughts..so you could imagine getting my real feelings down..ugh. So broken when it comes to this. Maybe I can use your technique as a stepping stone to start documenting the real stuff/words. Thanks for ALWAYS being so inspiring! :)

Love your page--one of my favs that you've done this year. I am totally addicted to Serial. We get it later in our day (obviously) than you guys do in America, but I find myself and all my other American friends anxiously hitting refresh refresh refresh on the day that it's released. There are a couple of other podcasts that discuss the Serial podcast as well, if you're interested. None of the ones are true "spoilers"--none give anything away that hasn't been discussed on the original. When you finish listening, I'd be curious as to what your take on the case is.

Adore both the card & that journaling page! And thanks again for the little forecast on your next page.

Ali,
I love your pages! So clean and simple. I feel like mine are too picture heavy! I take a lot of pictures each day with my phone and at the end of the day I have a had time picking just one story and one picture. I usually end up with a captions instead of a story & a few pictures each day.
Hey! You get to choose how you want your album to unfold ;). Are you wanting to mix it up? Do you do Project Life? If you are happy with lots of photos than go with it! If you want less then start adjusting your process so you aren't overwhelmed. Think about what's most important to you (it might be the photos, it might be the stories, it might be the crafty process) and then stick with it!

Great card!Impressed by the amount of journaling you do. I think like the commenter above I also tend to caption my photos, rather than tell a story. Something for me to think about. Thanks for sharing your wonderful project.

I really appreciate this inspiration. Today hasn't been a photo-friendly day, and I decided to borrow your snippets idea and write up a list of "gifts of the season" -- things I am grateful for today. And I think I'll snag your earlier idea to include a piece from a magazine or flyer, and use a bit from the Christmas food magazine I bought today. Thanks, Ali. :)

Thank you for the inspiration - this is such a simple and great idea for including journaling in the DD! Simplifying = enabler for the album. As well as stealing with pride :-) - I will definitely include a similar page in my album!
