One Little Word® 2019 | The Reading Of The Words

One Little Word® for 2019 is underway.

One of the traditions surrounding this project is an annual reading of the words. Thank you to those of you who shared your word on my recent blog post. This list obviously doesn't include all people participating in this project this year, but it's a lovely list of words. In past years I have invited my friend Liz Lamoreux to record herself reading this words. This year, as I was typing up the list, I felt the desire to read the list myself. I told Liz that I felt like I wanted to feel the words in my mouth this year.

Listen to me read the words here.

There is definitely still time to jump into my One Little Word® workshop for 2019. Get all the details about this year long workshop and join the community in making your word visible. We also have products to support you in documenting your journey with your word here

The word between my toes above is from my friend Colleen Attara. I've been so thankful for her support of this project over the years and love the intention and kindness she brings to this community. If you are interested in something in my handwriting we also offer custom acrylic wordsas well as a couple necklace options

Again, thank you for being part of this community. If you don't see your word listed below please feel free to share it in the comments.

I LOVE the annual reading of the words. I was afraid I missed this somehow this year, but I see my word represented. (Fresh). Thanks for doing this!

Also, my friend Mary from Story Camp had said her word was going to be "Me". I really liked that and I think I may do that next year.

My 2019 word it NOW. Last year's word of Special served me very well as it was a very SPECIAL 2018. Looking forward to 2019 being as fruitful.

The day after Thanksgiving, my husband & I traditionally discuss on our OLW - sometimes we share one, sometimes we each have our own. Knowing he was not likely to live thru 2019, he told me that he wanted my word to be "persevere." I wasn't crazy about it but wish to honor his request. He passed away from pancreatic cancer on Dec 18, and somehow, I will try to persevere.

So sorry for your loss, what a wonderful thing to do to honour him.

I too am sorry for your loss dear one - having experienced several deep griefs over the years - can I just say to you - be kind to your self. Even indulge yourself a little. People perceive grief as a linear experience that is like a wedge - biggest & most intense in the beginning & fading away to nothing eventually - and to some degree - it is - but not always & it could be more aptly described as a roller coaster - but the peaks and valleys are unpredictable. It can take the smallest thing to turn you into a catatonic puddle. Take care dear one & lean on those who care about you near & far. xxk

I love The Reading too. Ali, this is so you. You organized them alphabetically. Liz, with her wonderful voice, read them maybe in the order they appeared in your blog post. So rejoice in the reading every time

Same here! I was surprised that RISE wasn’t on the list above. I would’ve thought it would be a popular word! I’ve been procrastinating lately on so many things, I’m hoping that 2019 will be my year to RISE up and get things done!

I know you don't like the feel of this word as you sound it but... THRIVE. With a terminally ill & difficult MIL, work, teenagers & a recent diagnosis of depression & anxiety, I need to find the time for me to thrive both mentally & physically.
I started back at fitness classes last night...

My word is Discover! I didn’t know we were to put it on your blog. I listed it in the class and the Facebook group. Do we need to check your blog for other updates and info?

What I would love to say is this is my first year, first weeks actually joining the OLW 2019 edition. So far, my experience is beyond what I expected this project would be. The community, your presentations and all the inspirations are so amazing. I would recommend it to all the people out there who are willing to go on this journey with all of us.

By playing with the products and thinking about the prompts 1 day at a time. There is no overwhelm, only the feeling of grace and satisfaction.

Taking my time. I am not speeding up the process by filling everything out immediately. (it's fine if that's what you want), but this month is setting my foundation.
You can only build on a strong foundation right? (well, my word is GRIND, I need to take time to decide which direction I want to put all my focus and energy to).

I thought I was a procrastinator, I finally figured it out and took some action (a really simple one).
In order to complete 1 or 2 projects, you need to let go of the projects that you don't feel as strongly about.

I decided that OLW will be the 1 project I wan to focus on, because I feel deeply connected with it. And some other projects maybe. WITL, DITL, DD etc. I am aware of the fact that I want to do so many things at the same time and asking myself: "why am I feeling overwhelmed?, Why can't I focus?"

IT'S BECAUSE YOU CAN ONLY FOCUS ON 1 THING, BY TRYING TO MANY THINGS I AM FOCUSING ON ALL THE DISTRACTIONS. YOU CAN'T DO BOTH.

And if someone tells you that you they are good at multi-tasking, they mean that they are good in getting distracted.

I am committed to this project. And so far only this one. I feel for the first time in my life confident about finishing this project by having fun, taking a step back if I need to and growing in the process. (grinding in the right directions, living with purpose)

    Thank you Ali...

    Lot's of love,

    Emine
Btw: Hope to buy that acrylic word to. It's awesome. Your articulation is amazing. Thank you for owning your voice

2019 is the first year that I'm actually putting my thoughts and stories into an album ("choice" - I read a very good book about existentialism lately by chance, and that one really spoke to me), but when I thought about what my word for 2019 could be, I realized that I actually had chosen words in the years before without consciously realizing it: in 2016 it was "wholehearted", and later - in 2018 - it was "healing". Though the more I think about it, "healing" rather chose me than the other way round.

My word for 2019 is Up. I've started doing the work and responding to Ali's prompts and I'm so happy with my word. :)
I would like to order an acrylic word, but the cart prompt says it must be at least three letters.
I don't seem to be able to order the digital version of "Up" either - only "show-up" is available.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My word this year is STILL. 2018 was a crazy year of change and I need to find a way to invite stillness and peace back into my life. My quote is from Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God."

I’m using the journal this year. Is there an option for some sort of community for those of us only using that for tracking our progress?
