Office Tour 2019

One of the things I've learned is that there never really is "perfect" time.

There's never a perfect time to start memory keeping. There's never a perfect time to get married or get a divorce or get remarried. There's never a perfect time to take a vacation. There's never a perfect time to take a break. There's never a perfect time to do this or that.

With that in mind I decided to just pick up my camera and give you a tour of what's happening in my office right now. I didn't clean it all up to make it presentable - I wanted to share it with you how I see it most days. A mix of picked up and messy - perfectly imperfect.

Here's a tour of what it looks like right now:

Glad its not just me that can't play the video. But I know it will be fixed in the morning my time so looking forward to watching it tomorrow morning on the train. And perfect timing as I start planning my new (much smaller) craft room.

Hi! I'm not sure of the actual footage - in this house this was probably originally a media room. But I've had smaller rooms in the past and still had a table in the middle - definitely my favorite way to set it up.

Thanks for the tour, Ali. I love how happy your space feels with the artworks and fun colors. Would like to see more about the stuff you have on the walls.

What great timing this post was for me! I am just starting to work on my home office space now and this is giving me some additional things to think about. Thanks for always being so transparent and real!

Love your work space! Also, Procreate is AWESOME! I use it to create elements for pattern papers and LOVE it. My favorite part of your space is all of the photos of family living in it. It's like stepping into a physical version of one of your albums. Very cool!

Love the tour!! Specially loved seeing the types of things you use to organize (boxes/baskets/trays) as I usually get stumped on what to store stuff in! But I too, love giving/sharing my extras/stuff I won’t use, because less choice = more stories told!!😍

    Hi Ali,

I am researching typewriters currently and am wondering what the one on your table is that you use? And do you like it?

    Thanks,
    Amy

Hi! The one on my tables is from We R Memory Keepers: http://bit.ly/AEtypewriter. It works fine for me generally (reviews are mixed). I have also had good luck in the past with finding them at second hand stores or Goodwill and then ordering the ribbon online.

Also, as it’s rainy here today on Lopez, you’ve inspired me to get my space tidied up & usually some organizing occurs at the same time! Then, I play a little:) Thanks for the inspiration 😘

Thank you so much for inviting us into your workspace today! I enjoyed my visit :) I mean, virtual tour. I appreciate how you opened your door to us even though you like you said it wasn't picked up just so. I appreciate you showing us what it really looks like. I know it encourages me when other people are willing to show real life vs picked up. You have lots of awesome "a place for everything and everything in its place" systems!

Thank you for an awesome video. I have a question about what happened to the rolling baking cart with the baking shelves on.

In your video you mentioned that you use Procreate for your word art, any chance you will make the brushes you use for that available for purchase/download or are these brushes in the app or did you purchase them elsewhere.?

Ali, where and how do you store your cardstock and patterned paper? I know you don’t use a lot of designpaper anymore but I’m kind of curious what and how much you have (kept)...

Thanks for the tour! It is great to be able to find various ways of organizing the stash...and to get it right for all of us! Quick question - have the same Canon printer as you - which photo paper do you use to print? I feel I am never happy with the quality of home photo printing.

Love the use of the baking trays. I wondered how long that idea has been in play and if it is working for ya? I can see how having to bring several boxes in and out of the shelves could be tedious. Also it is endearing that you seem to be a little embarrassed about the state of cleanliness of your office. You must know it just makes your world more true to life for us. It’s almost comforting to actually see that you have unfinished projects around the office too. Thanks for the tour as always :)
