AEzine Challenge & weekend update

Here was the challenge from the AEzine last week:

One of the things I noticed in many posts about people's one little word was mentions of looking up their word in the dictionary. I love that idea. This week, locate the definition of your word and copy it onto a 3x5 notecard and stick it somewhere you will see it everyday. Maybe you have a board you look at, maybe your bathroom mirror, or someplace else where only you will see it, etc. It will serve as a little reminder of your word.

In addition, you may want to visit my favorite quote site Inspiration Peak and do a quote search using your word. See what sorts of interesting places it comes up and jot down any quotes that resonate with you. These could easily become a layout or the basis for another creative project.

If you really get excited about this you may want to consider setting up a small notebook for your word. Layouts you create, thoughts you have, things you find in your everyday life that have to do with your word could be slipped into page protectors and given a home all in one location.

Did you get a chance to do this yet? It is a great little exercise for focusing yourself on your word. Another thing you may consider doing is looking up your word in a thesaurus (one of my favorite tools). Here are some words for peace I found in my thesaurus: tranquility, calm, restfulness, peace and quiet, peacefulness, quiet, quietness; privacy, solitude, composure, ease, contentment, contentedness, harmony, nonviolence

Still loving reading through all those comments on the initial positng of the one little word challenge.

Right now I am waiting for my flight out of Vancouver - on my way back home. Had a great time once again at Photo Express - seeing old friends again and meeting new ones. Thanks for such a nice weekend - and thanks again Michelle for the invitation.

I will be back up in Vancouver again in March for ARTistry. This is a very special, cool event with Donna Downey and Claudine Hellmuth. There are just a few seats left for this experience - should be a ton of fun and a bit more "artsy" than some of the other events.

On Wednesday I will be heading to Pennsylvania for Scrappin Away Vacations. Totally looking forward to the adventure and for a bit of time to do a bit of scrapbooking as well as teaching.

Crazy, busy life.

Happy Monday!

    Happy Monday!
Because English is my 2nd language, this weekly challenge was really challenge to me.
But it was fun, too! I think it is a good way to learn and understand words. I found many quotes I love and continue to use the site.
I made a quote file holder and quote cards I can pin up on my board. http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=1060702
Ali, I love your AEzine and weekly challenge. I am looking forward to next challenge!

i haven't been this inspired in quite awhile! thank you, thank you, thank you!! o.k., so i took my word (well all 7 of them) and created an art journal. a place i can put the beautiful bits of life that come my way. as i was looking up the definitions for the 4 major words in my phrase, i realized each definition contained another word that reached out to me. experiences, pleasures, expanses, existence. i outlined these words on the front cover definitions so they stood out, as well as writing them on the "specimen" card on the inside. again, thanks and keep the inspiration coming!

Love that challenge!! I've put my word on a card (got so inspired by Emilie Falconbridges currently challenge so I had to put my word on a card too :P) and it's currently sitting nicely on my shelf where I can see it every time I scrap :) Here's some picture of the card and the shelf: http://aniia.blogspot.com/2007/01/aezine-challenge-snow.html
I totally love the definition idea, I'm so gonna look it up and have it added to the current word-card on the shelf!

I made a card with papers and letters from the Cocoa Daisy kit to hang over my desk on my bulletin board. The photo isn't as clear as I would like, but you can see it here:

HUMBUG! that isn't my word, I just can't seem to find any quotes about mine.
My word is GREEN as in low-water toilet going into the bathroom remodel, bamboo flooring downstairs, reseal the sliding glass door, shop for locally produced foods, keep buying used clothes even though new isn't expensive compared to my income GREEN.
I should look for some more sites to search . . . .
