AEzine Challenge & weekend update

Here was the challenge from the AEzine last week:

One of the things I noticed in many posts about people's one little word was mentions of looking up their word in the dictionary. I love that idea. This week, locate the definition of your word and copy it onto a 3x5 notecard and stick it somewhere you will see it everyday. Maybe you have a board you look at, maybe your bathroom mirror, or someplace else where only you will see it, etc. It will serve as a little reminder of your word.

In addition, you may want to visit my favorite quote site Inspiration Peak and do a quote search using your word. See what sorts of interesting places it comes up and jot down any quotes that resonate with you. These could easily become a layout or the basis for another creative project.

If you really get excited about this you may want to consider setting up a small notebook for your word. Layouts you create, thoughts you have, things you find in your everyday life that have to do with your word could be slipped into page protectors and given a home all in one location.

Did you get a chance to do this yet? It is a great little exercise for focusing yourself on your word. Another thing you may consider doing is looking up your word in a thesaurus (one of my favorite tools). Here are some words for peace I found in my thesaurus: tranquility, calm, restfulness, peace and quiet, peacefulness, quiet, quietness; privacy, solitude, composure, ease, contentment, contentedness, harmony, nonviolence

Still loving reading through all those comments on the initial positng of the one little word challenge.

Right now I am waiting for my flight out of Vancouver - on my way back home. Had a great time once again at Photo Express - seeing old friends again and meeting new ones. Thanks for such a nice weekend - and thanks again Michelle for the invitation.

I will be back up in Vancouver again in March for ARTistry. This is a very special, cool event with Donna Downey and Claudine Hellmuth. There are just a few seats left for this experience - should be a ton of fun and a bit more "artsy" than some of the other events.

On Wednesday I will be heading to Pennsylvania for Scrappin Away Vacations. Totally looking forward to the adventure and for a bit of time to do a bit of scrapbooking as well as teaching.

Crazy, busy life.

Happy Monday!

I posted my word last week: POTENTIAL
I looked it up in some dictionaries, but haven't compiled my definition yet. I have also been doing an on~line search for info about it, too. I have cleared out a binder to use for the year as I work more on my word.
I think I have a lot to learn and implement about reaching my full potential. One thing I already learned as I did some of the preliminary research is that the more one expands their potential the more it grows, so that it may never really be possible to reach full potential. Pretty cool idea that it is impossible to ever reach the extent of one's full potential! Wow!
I am so loving your word challenge! Thanks! :D

are you going to be at CHA this year? I am so hoping that you will - and maybe even stop by Scrapbook Oasis for the Kristina Contes crop! It would be so wonderful to meet such an inspirational person. I think you are just great.

Happy safe travels! I had a calendar I've been wanting to put together, so I made up a page each month with different quotes about my word, aware. The blog entry explaining the calendar is: http://www.peacefulbend.com/kT/?p=129
And the full calendar can be seen here:

I also made a bracelet with the word "GENTLE" on it in alpha beads. I figure this way I will see it almost constantly! Even with my ridiculously short memory and cluttered brain, I should be able to remember my commitment! Thank you so much for your wonderful challenge! Lynn

    Hey Ali...
    A couple of things.
One, I had an "a-ha" moment the other night when i was scrapping. I read your blog and read about your ideas about creating but it took until the other night for this moment. It finally hit me that I should just play and have fun with this. Stop putting so much pressure on myself and stop thinking I have to scrap every event in chronolgical order in the same size. BORING. STRESSFUL. NOT FUN!!! And, who wants to create with those constraints. And, now I'm loving it!! Wow. Thanks.
Secondly, I need your mailing address. A little suprise for you.

My word was challenge. I have decided to really take charge of my life and push myself to do more things and to try new things. I am also taking on the challenge of an online business. I figure between that, 10 month twins, a husband and home to take care of I should be plenty "challenged".
